Loudoun Republican Committee Hosts Data Center Town Hall
Loudoun County Republicans gathered in Sterling on Monday night for a town hall meeting focused on answering community questions about data centers and transmission lines.
Panelists included Commissioner of the Revenue Bob Wertz, Sterling District School Board Member Amy Riccardi, and Treasurer Henry Eickelberg, hosted by Loudoun County Republican Committee Chair George Taplin.
Questions from residents focused primarily on data center impacts and ways to mitigate them, particularly the Golden to Mars transmission line planned by Dominion Energy that is expected to cut through the Loudoun Valley Estates neighborhood.
Panelists addressed resident concerns regarding eminent domain, proposed temporary moratoriums, property values, and local tax revenues—noting that data center taxes generated $1.3 billion for the fiscal year 2027 budget, accounting for 45% of local tax revenue.
