About us
The London School of Mathematics and Programming is a unique institution that helps children to develop their intellectual and cognitive skills. We provide classes and camps for ages 4 to 18 that explore and encourage a deeper understanding of Maths, Programming, Robotics and Chess.
Founded in 2013, we were the first school in the UK to offer Maths Circles where children solve and discuss maths problems in small groups led by senior mathematicians. Our goal is to provide children with a thorough understanding of maths and its related subjects, to enjoy learning and to develop enquiring minds. Academic success thus becomes the natural outcome of this experience rather than the only goal.

We congratulate our pupils (and our team) on their outstanding achievements:
We are delighted to tell you that the London School of Mathematics and Programming is now registered with Ofsted.
As an extra curricular school, our registration is voluntary rather than obligatory. However, as we already comply with Ofsted’s requirements, we have made this decision as part of our continuing commitment to the highest standards in education, including safeguarding. This also now allows parents to use childcare vouchers and the Tax-Free Childcare scheme to pay for their child's education at LondonSMP.
We thought our students' Oxbridge results in 2024 would be hard to beat, with Cambridge successes including three students going to Trinity, and half gaining places at either Oxford or Cambridge. But our 2025 results have exceeded expectations with 60% heading to Oxford or Cambridge with most choosing Oxford this time. Top US universities also saw our students heading to Chicago and NYU.

We are thrilled to announce that two of our Year 10 students, Lucy and Charlie, have been selected to take part in the UK Mathematical Trust Training Camp in Oxford this August. This achievement is based on Lucy and Charlie’s outstanding performance in recent Olympiads in the 2024-2025 academic year where they both won Gold Medals. Only 24 students across the whole of the UK are invited to join this camp.
We are proud to recognise our students’ performance at the prestigious Polygon Mathematical Contest run by the acclaimed University of Szeged in Hungary. Competing students in Years 9 to 12 are required to submit an independent research paper. Across all only two first prizes, two second prizes, two third prizes and two honorable mentions were awarded. The following students from LondonSMP achieved an award in every one of these categories as follows: Rian – First Prize, Siddharth – Second Prize, Sarvesh – Third Prize, Evan – Honorable Mention.
In the annual Perse Coding Team Challenge 2025, LondonSMP was placed 8th out of 132 schools in the UK and internationally that took part. In total, 750 teams made it to the final this year so the competition was even tougher than last year when we came 8th out of 110 schools. We warmly congratulate all our pupils who participated - those on the LondonSMP teams and all the pupils who represented their full time schools.
In 2024 all pupils completing our Oxbridge online course for Years 10 to 13 gained an A* in both A level Maths and A level Further Maths. All went to their first choice of university with over half going to Oxford or Cambridge.
Anastasia Stone, our school’s founder, was appointed Chief Invigilator for the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad. Anastasia and her team had the challenging responsibility of running the exams for over 600 most brilliant young mathematicians from 109 countries.
We congratulate our pupil, Ema, who won a Silver Medal in the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) 2023 while scoring the highest mark on the British team.
What we offer
We teach at weekends and on evenings during term time and provide STEM camps during half terms and holidays. Our weekend schools are located in Kensington, Hampstead and Wimbledon and we also teach online.
Our teaching approach is highly systematic. We make sure each subject is thoroughly learned and understood so our pupils solve problems through logic rather than memorising theory. Our aim is to help children understand and love mathematics, coding, robotics and chess, be inventive, open-minded and strive to think outside the box. To achieve this we provide an engaging and enriching environment in which children can develop their abilities far beyond the ordinary.
