Tantrum East Podcast Timeline, 2023

After staying afloat during the pandemic, Tantrum East, a.k.a. Lisa Bol and Thomas “T-Bone” Daniels, decided to pivot their theatre company’s artistic direction and give podcasting a try.

The pair launched their Tantrum East podcast series with the story of Something Fishy’s podcast series about Murder, We Spoke’s podcast series.

Something Fishy Podcast, 2019

Bailey and AJ host the popular true crime podcast Something Fishy. In 2019, the duo – desperate for funding – needed a hit series for their fifth season to stay in business. They decide to cover the never-before-told story of the Murder, We Spoke trio and how they met their deadly demise in 2015.

Murder, We Spoke Podcast, 2015

Bernie, Paula, and Cres make a deal. They will give their podcast, Murder, We Spoke, one more season. If their tenth season does not produce dramatic results (subscribers, advertisers, money, etc.) they will end their podcasting careers. One night, after a tragic robbery gone wrong, their numbers skyrocketed. Suddenly, everyone knows about the Murder, We Spoke podcast. All it took was sacrifice, dedication, and a lot of blood.

Meet The Murder, We Spoke Podcast Characters

Murder, We Spoke showcases an ensemble of deadly characters all chasing after their dreams, no matter the cost.

Bernie Brown

A pragmatist mixed with a pessimist. She is tired, just so tired of trying that she has let her guard down. And now, something is ready to break free.

Paula Anderson

An introvert and loner. She only speaks when she has something to say – and you better listen. She’s got a fire in her that’s waiting to burst.

Bailey
(voiced by Luli Gomez Teruel)

An opportunist. Will chase a lead to the death

AJ
(voiced by Tom Morin)

An egotist. Always in search of more. Never satisfied.

Rita, Kat Pouncy, and more
(voiced by Jenna Zhu)

Eager and vicious. Must be the star at any and all costs.

(voiced by Thomas Daniels)

A cynic, prideful, and adrenaline junkie.

Lisa Bol, Laura Brown, and more
(voiced by Lisa Bol)

Desperate and cunning. She always gets what she wants.

Why True Crime Now?

True crime is everywhere – TV, podcasts, streaming, movies, documentaries, books and more. True crime is one of the most popular genres of entertainment.

Entertainment.

That is a morbid way to think of it, but it’s true. In the podcasting world alone, true crime podcasts attract over a third of all podcast listeners with the majority of those listeners identifying as women. (Pew Research Center, 2023). That means out of the 177 million people that listen to podcasts in the U.S., over 60 million favor true crime podcasts.

How Far Would You Go For Fame?

The Murder, We Spoke podcast series is a satirical comedy that dives into this violent obsession. Why do we glorify this violence? What attracts us to these graphic stories? Is it nature or nurture? How far would you go for fame? Why true crime now? No, we believe it is why true crime always.
