Start with these guides

Meccha Chameleon Beginner Guide
Meccha Chameleon is easiest to learn when you treat each round as three linked decisions: choose a place that makes sense, paint only for that place, and move only when the round state forces you.

Meccha Chameleon How to Win
Winning is mostly about denying the other team clean information. Hiders hide the shape of a player. Seekers force hidden players to reveal that shape.

Meccha Chameleon Hider Guide
A strong Hider is not the player who paints the prettiest body. It is the player who chooses a believable context and makes the Seeker waste time.
Roles
Understand the information game behind Hiders and Seekers before chasing tricks.
Strategy
Use timer pressure, zone clearing, and map habits to win more rounds.
Steam Setup
Check the official Steam route, Windows requirements, and version-matching notes.
Community
Find safe community links, plan viewer lobbies, and share custom-map tests carefully.
Launch-window notes
Mod maps now update automatically
The official hotfix enables automatic updates for mod maps. The first launch after updating re-downloads every installed mod once; later launches should use the current subscribed version without manual replacement.
Fix 3.9.1 repairs emotes and a Shopping Mall hiding gap
The official 3.9.1 fix reverses the emote navigation that behaved in the wrong direction, fixes cases where a different emote was selected, and closes a ceiling-cling gap on Shopping Mall. Update before judging an emote input or a suspicious ceiling spot.
Update 3.9.0 adds the Shopping Mall map
Shopping Mall joins the official map rotation. The patch also fixes momentary-on voice chat, shows player IDs, and says the next official map is planned as the last one outside collaborations, so map guides should now separate official stages from Workshop and collaboration maps.
Update 3.8.0 adds unanimous skip voting and BAN controls
The official 3.8.0 update adds the Mo Eeyo unanimous vote to skip hiding or answer-reveal time, adds a server-session BAN list, improves the voice-chat mic indicator, and fixes hidden-object collision, wall-camera jumps, reveal invisibility, jump height, TPS Hunter aim and controller navigation in User Management.
Fix 3.7.1 repairs Basic Mode Hunter movement on mod maps
The official fix addresses Basic Mode Hunters failing to move onto certain mod maps, adjusts jump height and updates part of the interface. Recheck affected Workshop maps on 3.7.1 before replacing or deleting them.
Fix 3.6.1 improves high-player-count performance
Character behavior was improved to reduce performance drops in crowded matches, and the blocked-word filter no longer catches several ordinary words. Test the same lobby size again before lowering every graphics option.
Update 3.6.0 adds the Deep Sea map and persistent settings
Deep Sea joins the map rotation. Game settings now persist after restart, numeric input buttons were added, Likes can be reset, the profanity dictionary was expanded, and game files were reduced to support future updates.
Update 3.5.3 adds inverted axes and repairs color saving
Players can invert camera X and Y axes, restore palette themes and use relaxed collision checks. The patch also improves low-spec behavior after map additions and fixes alpha, lightness, hue, saturation and value settings that previously reset or saved incorrectly.
Fix 3.3.2 repairs lobbies, Plump collision and controller UI
The official fix restores server-name and password behavior, corrects Plump belly collision, improves controller UI and 3D Eyedropper performance, and temporarily disables proximity voice while that system is repaired.
Update 3.3.0 adds Performance Mode and saved graphics settings
The current 3.3.0 notes add a Performance Mode, preserve graphics settings between sessions and improve the 3D Eyedropper. Recheck frame rate and paint sampling before relying on older troubleshooting advice.
Workshop map safety and restored official Discord
Security reporting identified a malicious community map, while the developer later confirmed that the official Discord was restored and the attackers were banned. Use reviewed Workshop entries, avoid maps that launch unrelated scripts, and scan the PC if a recent download behaved unexpectedly.
Update 3.3.0 adds the Plump body type
The official Steam update adds a new Plump character body type. Recheck silhouette, pose and hiding-space fit instead of assuming routes tested with older body shapes transfer unchanged.
Update 3.0.0 adds the Greece map
The official Steam update adds Greece. Relearn Seeker routes and test Hider silhouettes around white walls, blue doors and windows, barrels, planters, roof beams, rocks and dense foliage instead of carrying old-map assumptions into the new stage.
Update 2.9.0 adds glow-in-the-dark paint
The official Steam patch adds glow-in-the-dark paint, slightly improves painting performance, and adjusts the volume of the HIKAKIN Museum exclusive taunt sound.
Update 1.4.0 is live in the Steam news feed
The official Steam news feed lists update 1.4.0 after the 3 million copies milestone. Players should update Steam before troubleshooting lobbies, custom maps, or cross-version multiplayer.
Update 1.3.1 landed during the same patch window
Steam also lists update 1.3.1 on June 17. Keep lobby troubleshooting tied to exact game version, because early patches can make old advice stale quickly.
Meccha Chameleon is out on Steam
The Steam release introduced the paid Windows PC version, public and private multiplayer lobbies, Hider and Seeker rounds, body painting, and support for gameplay videos and streaming.
Custom-map creation is part of the launch push
The launch announcement says a modding tool is available so players can create custom maps and share community ideas around new hiding spaces.
Bug fix 1.0.2 improves lobby and detection behavior
The first patch adjusts private-server search visibility, lets survivors whistle in free-camera mode, tightens buried-survivor detection, and reminds players that multiplayer requires matching versions.
The whole game turns on one question.
Does this painted body belong to the stage? Every guide here is built around helping Hiders answer yes and helping Seekers prove when the answer is no.
