Worth knowing
Opened in 1887 and now a gazetted National Monument, Raffles holds more legend per square metre than any hotel in the region. It is also where the Singapore Sling was born: around 1915, Long Bar bartender Ngiam Tong Boon tinted a gin sling rose pink so ladies could order a real cocktail in plain sight.
