Privacy Policy

How BlurPhoto handles your images and protects your privacy when you use our online blur tool.

Last updated: 2026-06-13

Our Commitment to Privacy

At BlurPhoto, we built our image blur tool with privacy as a core design principle. This policy explains exactly what happens to your photos and data when you use our service.

Image Processing: How Your Photos Are Handled

Our image processing works in two modes, and it's important you understand the difference:

Standard Blur Effects

When you use Gaussian Blur, Pixel Blur, Motion Blur, Radial Blur, Noise Blur, Color Blur, or Soft Blur — your images never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser. We do not receive, see, or have any access to these images at any point.

AI Background Detection

When you use our AI Background Blur feature to automatically detect people and blur backgrounds:

  • Your image is temporarily transmitted to our server for AI model inference only.
  • The image is processed immediately and automatically deleted as soon as processing completes.
  • We do not store, view, retain, share, or use your images for any other purpose — not for training, not for analytics, not for anything.
  • No human ever views your images during this process.

Information We Do Not Collect

Because our tool works without registration, we do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or personal identifiers (unless you choose to create an account).
  • Images you upload for blurring.
  • Location data or device identifiers beyond basic analytics.

Information We May Collect

When You Create an Account

If you voluntarily sign up for an account to access additional features, we collect only the information you provide: name and email address. Your account password is stored in hashed form and is never readable by us.

Usage Analytics

We may use privacy-focused analytics (such as Plausible or Google Analytics) to understand aggregate usage patterns — for example, which blur effects are most popular. These tools do not track individual images or personally identifiable information.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

  • Essential cookies: to remember your language preference and theme setting.
  • Analytics cookies: optional, to help us understand how the tool is used.

You can disable analytics cookies through your browser settings without affecting the tool's functionality.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. The limited data we collect (account emails, analytics) is never sold to third parties.

Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all connections, access controls on our infrastructure, and automated deletion of AI-processed images. While no online service can guarantee absolute security, we have designed our system to minimize exposure of your data at every step.

Third-Party Services

Our AI background detection feature uses a segmentation model that runs on our infrastructure. No third-party AI services receive your images.

If you choose to sign in with Google or GitHub OAuth, those providers will process your login according to their own privacy policies.

Your Rights

  • You may use the core blur tool without providing any personal information.
  • If you created an account, you may access, update, or delete your data through your account settings or by contacting us.
  • You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. For material changes, we will provide notice through our website.
