About
The Magic Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MVMPO) is a group of local governments that acts as a transportation planning body for the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA). The MPA includes the Cities of Twin Falls and Kimberly, as well as portions of Twin Falls County and Jerome County.
The MVMPO was formed in December 2023, in response to the Federal requirement that all Urban Areas with populations of 50,000 or greater have a dedicated transportation authority. The MVMPO is governed by a Policy Board, which consists of representatives from the following member agencies of the MVMPO:
- City of Kimberly
- City of Twin Falls
- Hillsdale Highway District
- Idaho Transportation Department – District 4
- Jerome County
- Jerome Highway District
- Twin Falls County
- Twin Falls Highway District
The MVMPO’s responsibilities include transportation planning, distribution of Federal transportation funds, and fostering regional collaboration between agencies in the Magic Valley. The MVMPO does not own or maintain roadways within the MPA, though it coordinates with member agencies to determine how Federal transportation funds are spent within the MPA. Projects are earmarked for Federal funding through development of the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan and other federally-required work products.
