Since first forming The Nick Moss Band in 2016, master blues guitarist Nick Moss has been a torchbearer for traditional electric blues. But rather than simply repeating what’s come before, the band’s high-energy take on old school Chicago, Texas and West Coast sounds is completely their own.

AllMusic says the band, winners of the 2020 & 2024 Blues Music Award for Blues Band Of The Year, “makes the case for the vitality of old-fashioned Chicago electric blues in the 21st century.” They are among the world’s very best old school blues ensembles, with each musician expertly playing off the others. “We are a rare breed as far as how authentic we like to keep the music, while also keeping it up-to-date and exciting,” says Moss.

Among many awards and recognitions the band has received, Nick Moss garnered the 2019 Blues Music Award for Best Traditional Blues Male Artist. The band took home Blues Music Awards in 2020 for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Band of the Year. In 2024 the band received the prestigious Band of the Year honors again from the Blues Music Awards.

Nick Moss proudly represents the city of Chicago as one of the few bluesmen working today to have learned his craft firsthand, directly from many of the genre’s original creators…and rest assured that the band will bring you the best in authentic Blues!

Soul'd Out Presents:   Zaccai Curtis  Cubop Lives

Doors: 7:00pm
Show: 8:00pm

Zaccai Curtis – Piano, Luques Curtis – Bass, Willie Martinez – Timbales, Camilo Molina -Congas, Reinaldo De Jesus – Congas, Jeremy Bosch – Flute

2025 GRAMMY Award winner Zaccai Curtis is a multi-faceted pianist for whom every side of his work gleams. Equal parts performer, composer, educator, and producer, Curtis has won himself esteem in each area as he vibrantly showcases his mastery of both the Jazz and Afro-Caribbean Jazz lineages.

As a musician who is so deeply steeped in the Jazz and Bebop tradition and so vivaciously immersed in the worlds of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Curtis found himself wanting to pay homage to the great musicians in whose steps he has trod who brought together the distinct fusion of these musical cultures. “I wanted to make a period piece album that brought a new perspective to an older style – one that wasn’t covered the way I thought it could be,” Curtis says. “Cubop Lives! points out the earliest of “jazz fusion” and the combination of cultures that related to each other socially, politically and, of course, musically.”

Curtis brings along his Quartet, which expands upon the CUBOP era, with a mix of new compositions and classics from Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Dorham to Machito. Exploring these classic Afro-Cuban jazz concepts this quartet brings a new sound through their arrangements and vision of where this music should go. This group features bassist Luques Curtis, timbalero

Willie Martinez, conguero Camilo Molina, bongosero Reinaldo De Jesus and flautist Jeremy Bosch.

MEL BROWN B3 ORGAN GROUP
"If this band appeared in New York City, they'd be a sensation!"That was guitar great–and one-time Mel Brown bandmate George Benson's reaction after hearing the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group back in 2003.

In fact, this true All-star band (all four members are Oregon Music Hall Of Fame inductees) has been a sensation going back to 1997, when they began a 20-year run on Thursday evenings at Portlands legendary Jimmy Maks (The Oregonian dubbed them Jimmy Maks signature group). They've continued their Thursday night tradition at the Jack London Revue for the past 6 years. With a collective resume that reads like a Who's Who of NW jazz, blues, and soul, this group has the talent and confidence to be completely spontaneous –from their blistering solos to their improvised arrangements and segues. No wonder they've thrilled audiences wherever they've played.

Count among the bands fans jazz great Christian McBride, host of National Public Radio's Jazz Night In America. In an October 2021 broadcast, McBride interviewed Mel and played excerpts from a Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group festival set. At one point in the program, McBride exclaimed, My mind is blown!

Soul'd Out Presents:  Joshua Josue – Chicano Revue
Featuring Joshua Josue  with specia guests [TBA]

Doors: 7:00pm
Show: 8:00pm
Ages 21+
———————–
Joshua Josué is a Portland, Oregon-based Chicano singer-songwriter whose music blends classic rock 'n' roll, Americana, and borderland storytelling. His latest album, Broadcast to the Surf Ballroom, is an ambitious tribute to the unfinished musical legacy of Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Inspired by their final demos and recordings, Josué reimagines the songs they never had the chance to complete, honoring their spirit while bringing his own voice and vision to the music.

Recorded with a raw, live-band energy, the album celebrates the timeless influence of two rock 'n' roll pioneers while reflecting Josué's deep personal connection to their music—artists who inspired him to first pick up a guitar.

Josué's acclaimed debut, Beneath the Sand, established him as a compelling storyteller, blending Chicano soul, folk, and rock with bilingual songwriting shaped by his travels through Mexico and Central America.

Live, Joshua Josué delivers an electrifying performance featuring beloved classics like "La Bamba," "That'll Be the Day," and "Donna," alongside deeper cuts and original songs that honor rock 'n' roll's enduring legacy while carrying it into the present.

LILA FORDE
With a voice steeped in jazz, soul, folk, and old-school American songcraft, the Seattle-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter has always carried a deep sense of self through her music. But on Life Can Still Be Sweet, her sophomore album, that self comes into fuller focus: A little older, a little wiser, more instinctive, and more firmly in command of the world she’s building. Warm, whimsical, and full of growing pains, the record captures Forde in the thick of her twenties – chasing songs, learning lessons, finding her people, and holding onto beauty even when life gets hard.

“I think I have a really unique voice – not just my literal voice, but my proverbial voice,” Forde says. “In this day and age, and in this industry, there’s a lot of trend following, and there’s a lot of homogeny. I’m just really trying to be my own artist.”

That individuality has been there from the beginning. Raised in a spiritual, music-filled household in Seattle, Forde grew up without a television and with her feet in the dirt – the daughter of a musician and meditation teachers who encouraged her to stay curious, grounded, and creatively free. She sang in choirs, studied jazz in college, and steeped herself in the classics, from Bonnie Raitt and Carole King to Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson, while developing her soulful California sound that feels unmistakably her own.    https://lilaforde.com/

SHELLY RUDOLPH: DIVA DELUXE
ETTA. ARETHA. BLONDIE.
“Equal parts sugar and whiskey… enough diva class and bluesy grit to carry
the day.” — All About Jazz

Leading a stellar six-piece ensemble, Ms. Rudolph belts, caresses and struts
her way through the music of Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Blondie: three
singular women, three unmistakable voices.

DIVA DELUXE spans Etta’s blues-drenched sass, Aretha’s sanctified soul and
Blondie’s downtown rock-and-roll cool, with iconic hits, hidden treasures and
Rudolph’s own songs woven through the night: music shaped by love,
swagger and tenderness.   Shelly Rudolph is a Portland-based vocalist, songwriter and poet known for her “honey-glazed throat” and “powerfully romantic” originals. Her music moves freely between jazz, blues and soul. Her international single “I Love
LOVE,” featuring guitarist Charlie Hunter, has reached radio playlists in 17
countries; her multidisciplinary jazz myth suite Orfea Rising premiered at the
2026 Montavilla Jazz Festival; and her forthcoming album Wild Darling
unfurls as a sultry tumble-rise-up of sassy struts, bluesy boleros and hip-
sway ballads, inspired in part by the great divas who helped shape her
musical world.

The Band DELUXE:
Oregon Music Hall of Fame saxophonist Renato Caranto has performed with
artists including Esperanza Spalding and Merle Haggard.
First-call soul-fire guitarist Dan Gildea, praised by Oregon ArtsWatch for his
“sizzling yet sensitive” playing, has performed with jazz legends Ron Carter
and Leroy Vinnegar.
Trumpeter Paul Mazzio is a veteran of the Woody Herman Orchestra who has
performed with Tony Bennett, Larry Carlton and The Moody Blues.
Keyboardist Joe Bagg, hailed by DownBeat as “a highly refined player with a
light touch who listens,” is a longtime member of Jeff Goldblum’s Mildred
Snitzer Orchestra

Popular demand – Second Night Added!

OZ NOY
Virtuoso guitarist and composer Oz Noy has carved out a distinctive niche within the contemporary music landscape by creating an electrifying fusion of jazz, funk, rock, blues, and R&B. His innovative approach, described succinctly by Noy himself as “Jazz—it just doesn’t sound like it,” has captivated audiences worldwide and earned him widespread acclaim among fans, critics, and fellow musicians alike.

Born in Israel, Oz embarked on his professional music career at the remarkably young age of 13, swiftly distinguishing himself across multiple genres. By age 16, he had already established himself as a leading guitarist, performing alongside many of Israel’s most prominent artists. By age 24, Oz had become one of the most in-demand session guitarists in the country and held a pivotal role as a member of the house band on Israel’s top-rated television show for over two years.

Oz’s artistic journey took a transformative leap when he relocated to New York City in 1996. His arrival in the vibrant music scene of New York marked the beginning of a prolific career, characterized by an infectious groove and genre-defying sonic explorations. Quickly making his mark, he began collaborating with some of the most revered musicians in the industry, including drummers Keith Carlock, Anton Fig, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckl, as well as bassists Will Lee, James Genus, and Reggie Washington.

Soul'd Out Presents:
Bombargo  with Dylan Chambers
Doors: 7:00pm
Show: 8:00pm
Ages 21+.

Bombargo is a Canadian based international touring band that drops a vibrant splash of soul over their distinctive ‘vintage-pop’ sound. Well known for bringing unrivaled energy to the stage with sing-along anthems, double-brother harmonies, and a powerful message that combined make for one of the most captivating live shows ever! Frontman Nathan Thoen's passionate conviction and ‘Jagger-like’ dance moves even impressed billionaire and music industry icon Sir Richard Branson, quoting “I haven’t seen this type of energy since The Rolling Stones!” – and he would know, having personally signed The Rolling Stones to Virgin Records.

The band began with lead singer Nathan Thoen and guitarist Spencer Chilliak after the two spontaneously met and drove 16 hours to attend Sasquatch Music Festival where they became inspired to start a band. The duo wrote their debut single “Let It Grow” during their very first writing session and as part of Bombargo’s debut EP Back on Main which would go on to be included in “The Top 10 Best Saskatchewan Albums of 2015” by SaskMusic. This further inspired them to continue writing, touring, and release their first full-length album titled We Are Bombargo. The group has since evolved into a 5-piece touring band adding Nathan’s brother Anthony Thoen on guitar, additional brothers Matt and Sammy Folkersen on keys and bass respectively, and Niall Cubbon on drums.

Bombargo went on to receive massive acclaim when pop star icon Taylor Swift added their 2018 single “Mr. No Good” to her Spotify Playlist titled “Songs Taylor Loves” alongside mega artists including Ed Sheeran, Camilla Cabello, and Kendrick Lamar. Being the only unsigned band on this star-studded playlist saw Bombargo featured on CBC’s the Q, NME, Exclaim, Fashion, Noisey, People, and Billboard. This success was followed up by the release of their most successful single to date – “Oxygen” which pushed Bombargo into the Canadian Hot AC Top 40 Charts for the first time in the fall of 2019. The band also made its US touring debut in late 2019 with their 33 date “North American Dream Tour” which kicked off with Bombargo playing the sold-out Roughriders Labour Day Classic Half-Time Show to over 33,000 people. The band’s highly anticipated US debut at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, CA gained heavy press coverage including a raving article in Billboard Magazine.

Soul'd Out Presents:   June McDoom with Eliana Glass
Doors: 7:00pm
Show: 8:00pm
Ages 21+.
https://www.instagram.com/junemcdoom/
https://www.instagram.com/ladyliana

There is a hush most of us only knew as children, the warm drift between familiar household sounds and being carried to bed, a place that belongs to you and to some self you have not met yet. June McDoomʼs debut full-length, Follow the Light, lives in that dream space and then keeps walking, slipping out of time and waking somewhere new, barely familiar enough to feel like home yet wholly your own.

She came up in a Jamaican household on the edge of the Florida Everglades, an existence built of extended family, communal care, bass and harmonics. Her father, a carpenter and a student of sound, built his own speakers and kept three sound systems going across as many rooms. His low end would rise through her bedroom floor like some wayward cat while she lay above it with folk records, finding harmonies that were new and hers alone. Two musics in one room. Lushness as past and premonition.

She found folk on her own, somewhere between the cast recording of The Sound of Music and Simon and Garfunkel, while everyone around her called it sleepy music. She did not mind being the only one. The solitude let her fall for harmony first, before words, before anything else, and harmony is still the thing she reaches for.

The release of their third studio album, A Night Like This, plays to all of their strengths. From the many hats of Mike Doolin laying down multiple guitar and bass tracks to every song, to Jessica Dover’s breezy approach to Jobim’s melodies, to John Dover’s buttery solo work on the flugel horn. The Three Ds deliver a heavy dose of Brazilian jazz along with a couple of American songbook surprises.

Their prior releases include, A Little Christmas Nog, and A Little Christmas Nog II: Nog Harder. Their holiday performances take the arrangements from these recordings and deliver them with a nostalgic banter. Add in the sound of their full band and audiences are carried away with a smile on their face and holiday cheer in their hearts.
