Family-run business since 1946!

Why Choose Mapes?

Family-Run with Generations of Island Tradition.

We’re not just a business—we’re part of the fabric of Millport. Mapes has been a trusted name on the island since 1946, with a long-standing reputation for friendly service, local knowledge, and creating unforgettable holiday memories across generations.

One-Stop Shop: Bikes & Toys Under One Roof.

We uniquely combine bike hire and sales with a nostalgic, well-stocked toy and gift shop. Families can rent bikes, shop for toys, and pick up beach essentials all in one visit—making us a key part of the full Millport experience.

Largest & Most Diverse Bike Fleet on the Island.

From kids’ bikes to electric-assist, tandems, quad cycles, dog trailers, and accessible options, we offer something for everyone. Whether you're cycling solo, as a couple, with kids or even a dog—we've got the right wheels for your adventure.

Personal, Friendly Service That Goes the Extra Mile.

We pride ourselves on making every visitor feel welcome. Whether it’s adjusting a saddle, helping nervous riders, offering local tips, or making your kids smile with a medal after their first island lap—we treat every customer like family.
