Trade Union Facilities Template
Trade Union facilities are one of the most critical elements to building union power in the workplace. You should endeavour to agree and sign an agreement on facilities with your employer at the same time as your recognition agreement (refer to Work, Voice, Pay Recognition Template for more information). If you have already got recognition but no formalised facilities seek to sign a comprehensive agreement with your employer as soon as possible.
Trade Union Recognition Template
Recognition of a trade union by an employer means that the union and its members have the right to negotiate as a collective with the employer, commonly referred to as collective bargaining.
Collective bargaining brings increased power to Unite Shop Stewards/Reps and their members: the power to negotiate on pay, benefits, terms and conditions and health and safety in the workplace. Without recognition and the right to bargain collectively workers are immediately disadvantaged, with only the right to have a Unite Shop Steward/Rep or Unite Official represent them in a grievance or disciplinary.
Agency Workers Template
Agency working and other casualisation tactics used by employers are a direct attack upon Unite organisation, terms and conditions and the right of Unite members to regulate their workplace. To build collective strength and real bargaining power, Unite Shop Stewards/Reps must organise all workers in the workplace regardless of employment status whether they are directly employed or indirectly employed agency workers. Agency workers must be organised in their place of work in the same way we would permanent workers. Failure to organise agency workers will inevitably lead to a casualised workforce and diminished bargaining power.
Unite Pay Campaigning Guide
The annual pay round provides an ideal opportunity to grow strength in the workplace. The aim should not be simply to achieve a decent pay increase but also to achieve membership growth, to increase Unite’s profile, and involvement of members, develop leadership and improve our facilities.
Unite Pay Claim Guide
The purpose of this guide is to help you draft and deliver your own pay claim in your workplace achieving the best possible outcome for you and the Unite members you represent. It is written with guidance in mind and should not be seen as the last word on how to put together your pay claim.
