for Next-generation

Sodium-ion Batteries

Dutch battery materials research

The NANEXBAT research consortium was granted by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to explore in the next 5 years materials innovations for next-generation sodium-ion batteries. With a subsidy of 8 M€ a combination of experimental and computational studies will be initiated on structure-property relationships of promising Na-ion battery materials and their mutual interactions under working conditions, complemented by analysis of sustainability, material availability, and techno-economics.

National Growthfund

The project is part of the large national Growthfund program ‘Material Independence and Circular Batteries’.

Consortium partners

The consortium brings together Dutch academic universities and relevant national industries.
