Every photograph on this site is available as a high-resolution digital file, except those in the Völklingen Ironworks galleries. There is no shopping cart here: you tell me which frame and what it is for, I quote, and the file arrives as a download.
Most of these places no longer exist in the state you see them. Blast furnaces get cut up, coking plants get levelled, headframes come down. The archive is what is left of them.
What you get
Two ways to buy
Personal use
For your own wall. You get a file large enough to print big, and you take it to whichever lab or framer you like, at whatever size suits the room.
€60 per photograph, +VAT
Publication licence
For books, magazines, annual reports, exhibitions, websites and presentations. Tell me where it will appear, in what size and for how long, and I will quote.
Editorial from €150 +VAT; commercial quoted per use
How to order
- Find the photograph. Open it so it fills the screen, then copy the address from your browser. It ends in something like /i-9RD6sZx, and that code tells me exactly which frame you mean.
- Send it to me with the button below, pasting that address into the message along with what you intend to do with the photograph.
- I reply with a price. Once it is paid, the download link follows.
What the licence covers
Copyright stays with me. A personal-use file is for your own walls and your own use: it cannot be resold, redistributed, or used in anything commercial. A publication licence covers the use we agree on, for the period we agree on, and editorial use carries a credit line. If your plans change later, write to me and we will extend it.
Commissions
I photograph working industrial sites for the companies that run them: plant documentation before a rebuild or demolition, imagery for reports and websites, and aerial work where access allows. If you are responsible for a site and want it photographed properly, get in touch. I work on site, with permission, and around your safety rules.
Get in touch
Three things help me answer in one reply rather than three: the address of the photograph, what you intend to do with it, and when you need it. I answer everything myself, usually within a day or two.
