The Anglo-Boer War saw some of the largest, bravest, and botched actions in the history of the British Army. Over 50 of these were fought in the Johannesburg-Pretoria-Swartruggens-Val Area and many of the battle sites are remarkably preserved to this day. See below for Popular Tours
Spring is Here !
The Spring on the famous Mauser 1898 rifle used by the Boers required a force of 19lbs to compress it as part of the bolts assembly. The spring assembly is considered far superior for accuracy than the Lee Metford 303, which was designed more to lay down rapid fire. Now there is a contradiction to what we were taught ! Want to know why ? You will only understand once you have sat in a skansa or stood at the foot of a hill on a battlefield. Walk with me in your forefathers footsteps.
