Strain: Madrina Dispensary: Takoma Wellness Center Market: DC Medical Cannabis Overall Rating: 9.4/10 Lean: Sativa "Madrina" is a Cookies & Alt Sol Collaboration available at Takoma Wellness. Initial Thoughts Madrina, cultivated by Alt Sol and available at Takoma Wellness Center in Washington, DC, comes with a reputation as bold as its name. In Spanish-speaking cultures, "Madrina" can refer to a godmother, but not the sweet, storybook kind—it’s slang for a powerful smuggler, a behind-the-scenes orchestrator with influence and presence. Similarly, this strain smuggles creativity and relaxation into your day, all while delivering a sensory experience that’s as commanding as its namesake. But don’t worry—this "godmother" is here to guide you into a state of productive bliss, not trouble. Let’s take a closer look at what makes Madrina such an intriguing addition to the Cookies lineup. Cookies "Madrina" packaging art. Appearance Madrina's visual appeal is undeniable. The dense, resin-covered buds gleam with a frosty coating of trichomes, almost like they’ve been dipped in powdered sugar. Bright green hues dominate, accented by subtle streaks of purple and fiery orange pistils that twist like ribbons throughout the flower. It’s a strain that looks as refined as it feels. Status Fresh. Aroma As soon as you crack open the jar, Madrina greets you with an assertive blend of sugary citrus and sharp gasoline. The aroma is invigorating, reminiscent of candied lemon zest mixed with a jolt of diesel fuel. It’s the olfactory equivalent of a double shot of espresso—bright, energizing, and full of character. Flavor If the aroma doesn’t wake you up, the flavor certainly will. Madrina delivers a fruity berry sweetness on the inhale, almost like a bowl of fresh summer berries drizzled with honey. But don’t let your guard down—on the exhale, it flips the script with a potent chemical kick that’s both intense and oddly satisfying. It’s a flavor journey that keeps you coming back for more. Lineage Madrina owes its complex profile to its parent strains, Wedding Cake and Londonchello. Wedding Cake brings its signature sweetness and earthy depth, while Londonchello contributes a zesty citrus burst and uplifting effects. Together, they create a balanced hybrid with an energetic edge. Effects Much like its namesake, Madrina doesn’t play by the rules. It starts with an uplifting head high that sparks creativity and focus, making it ideal for brainstorming or tackling a long to-do list. As the cerebral effects settle in, a gentle wave of relaxation takes over, soothing the body without inducing couch lock. Madrina is like a guiding hand, gently steering you toward productivity and joy without overwhelming you. Conclusion With its complex flavor profile, visually stunning buds, and sativa-oriented effects, Madrina is a strain that deserves the attention of daytime cannabis enthusiasts everywhere. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, mood enhancement, or just a flavorful toke, she delivers - much like the powerful figures the name evokes. And while it might not smuggle anything other than its cheerful vibes into your day, this "godmother" strain is definitely one to respect and enjoy.

Strain: Triple Burger Dispensary: Green Theory Market: DC Medical Cannabis Overall Rating: 9.6/10 Lean: Indica Dominant Initial Thoughts Recently harvested by DC craft cultivator Alt Sol, this phenomenal Triple Burger just dropped at Washington DC medical marijuana dispensary, Green Theory. Known for its potent effects and uniquely savory profile, my mouth started watering immediately from the super loud aroma that emerged when I cracked open the jar. It's originally a Skunk House Genetics creation, combining the robust GMO with Double Burger to make this indica-dominant (70% indica/30% sativa) offspring. With gorgeous looks - as we've come to expect from Alt Sol - it's tempting to everyone, but truly geared towards those cannabis enthusiasts with a high tolerance. 🍔🍔🍔 Appearance Triple Burger’s buds can be a bit intimidating at first, much like staring down a monstrous three patty burger at your local eatery. Vibrant greens are threaded with purple undertones and fine orange hairs. A thick layer of milky, starry trichomes coats the entire surface, giving the buds a frosted appearance that seems to ooze potency. Status Fresh. Aroma The aroma of Triple Burger is unapologetically pungent, blending garlic, butter, and diesel into a powerful scent that fills the room. Hints of savory herbs and a mild chemical undertone add complexity, creating an aroma that may remind some of a cooking experience in the kitchen. This strain’s rich aroma profile is largely driven by its dominant terpene, caryophyllene, which is known for its spicy, musky scent and potential anti-inflammatory effects. Flavor On inhale, Triple Burger reveals a creamy, almost buttery taste that combines with subtle hints of blue cheese, savory meat, and herbs. These flavors are layered with a slight chemical edge, giving it a distinct umami profile that stands out among traditional cannabis strains. This unique flavor combination can be quite appealing to those who enjoy savory, earthy flavors in their cannabis. Lineage Triple Burger’s lineage comes from crossing GMO and Double Burger, two strains known for their pungency and potency. GMO contributes its signature garlic and diesel flavor, while Double Burger lends its savory undertones and robust THC levels. This powerful cross by Skunk House Genetics results in an indica-dominant hybrid that delivers a deeply calming experience coupled with a truly distinctive flavor and aroma profile. Effects The effects of Triple Burger unfold slowly, beginning with a gentle calming sensation that gradually spreads throughout the body. Users may feel an uplifting wave that clears away negative thoughts and tension, while the indica characteristics bring about a cozy, relaxing physical experience. The warming, sedative qualities help ease stress, pain, and insomnia, making Triple Burger a suitable option for evening or nighttime use. Some users also report a tingling sensation, enhancing the strain's soothing physical effects. Due to its high THC level, this strain is favored by those seeking relief from chronic pain, insomnia, stress, and even appetite issues. Conclusion Triple Burger by Alt Sol brings a unique blend of savory flavors and powerful indica effects to the table. It's ideal for those seeking a strong, full-bodied experience that pairs well with a relaxed evening or night. Its garlic, butter, and diesel notes make it distinct, while the relaxing, sedative effects provide a deeply comforting and therapeutic experience for seasoned users. As a suggestion, you may want to consider grabbing some burgers to eat before (and perhaps after) burning on the "Burgah" - as the Toker's Guide team are affectionately referring to it. The effects combined with the notion of food in the name mean munchies will be nearly inevitable, so you'll want to have either a full stomach or food on hand. To feast on some Triple Burger yourself head to Green Theory ASAP and don't forget to let them know you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

Strain: Snoop Dogg OG Dispensary: Columbia Care, Chevy Chase Market: Maryland Recreational Overall Rating: 9.2/10 Lean: Hybrid Initial Thoughts This batch of Snoop Dogg OG, named after the rap legend and cannabis enthusiast Snoop Dogg himself, is the "shizzle". Currently available at Columbia Care dispensary in Chevy Chase, Maryland, it brings serious laid-back vibes with a blend of euphoric creativity and couch-locking relaxation. This indica-dominant hybrid (70% indica / 30% sativa) has its roots in Lemon OG and Sour Diesel, making it a hard-hitting, funky hybrid that’s as smooth as a G-funk beat. 🎤 📀 🎧 Appearance The buds of Snoop Dogg OG are generously sized, dense, and spade-shaped, showcasing a dusty green color with hints of mint throughout. Bright orange and amber pistils swirl around the nugs, which are coated in a fine layer of white crystalline trichomes and sticky resin—this bud has some real “bling” to it, like Snoop himself. Status Fresh, but starting to cure in packaging. Aroma Snoop Dogg OG’s aroma lives up to the rapper’s style with a funky mix of earthy lemon and diesel. When breaking apart the buds, that diesel scent takes over, mingling with a zesty lemon tang that hints at its Lemon OG lineage. This strain’s aroma profile could make you “drop it like it’s hot” just from the sheer pungency! Flavor On the inhale, Snoop Dogg OG delivers a spicy earthiness, followed by a sour, lemony diesel taste on the exhale. This flavor combo is smooth but packs a punch, sort of like a classic Snoop Dogg track. It’s not too harsh on the palate, but there’s a noticeable zing from the lemon that gives the experience a nice kick. Lineage A cross between Lemon OG and Sour Diesel, Snoop Dogg OG brings together the best of both worlds, much like a rap collab you didn’t know you needed. The Lemon OG influences shine through in the lemon notes, while Sour Diesel adds that unmistakable diesel funk. This powerful duo lays the foundation for Snoop Dogg OG’s potent, long-lasting effects. Effects Snoop Dogg OG kicks off with a wave of cerebral euphoria that gets the creative juices flowing. It’s a bit like stepping into the recording booth with Snoop himself—confidence is high, and the world is full of possibilities. After a while, the initial energetic high settles into a balanced focus, with relaxation creeping in as couch-lock starts to take hold. Just like Snoop’s smooth style, this strain leaves you mellowed out - and with a solid case of the munchies, so be prepared to snack. Conclusion Snoop Dogg OG at Columbia Care in Chevy Chase brings on the relaxation and a taste of West Coast vibes. With a balanced mix of euphoria, focus, and couch-lock, it’s perfect for winding down after a long day. Snoop might say, "Ain't no strain dope as Snoop Dogg OG, it's so laid back, no wonder it’s named after me!"
