The Society Shifts From Calendar-Based to Rolling Memberships
As a legacy of the days when an Econometric Society membership meant a purchase of a year's worth of Econometrica, our memberships have been long been based on the calendar year, with any membership expiring at the end of the calendar year of its purchase.
We are pleased to announce that at its August meeting, the Executive Committee of the Society approved changing this to rolling memberships.
Effective immediately, any membership purchased will expire 12 months later (or 36 months for a three-year membership) rather than at the end of the calendar year of purchase.

New Carbon Offset Initiative
New Econometric Society Carbon Offset Purchase Option
The Econometric Society now gives members the option to purchase a carbon offset for their travel to Society meetings as part of the registration process. The Society offers two choices for the offset: Climate Vault, a U.S.-based non-profit created by Professor Michael Greenstone (University of Chicago), and Homaio, an EU-based company that enters into long-term investments in carbon.
An Econometric Society committee appointed by then-President Eliana La Ferrara and consisting of Johannes Stroebel (NYU), Paul Joskow (MIT), and Christian Gollier (chair) (TSE), strongly recommended these two intermediaries for the offset purchases.
