The Old Globe is pleased to announce the full cast and creative team for the 2026 Globe for All Tour of Macbeth. Now in its 12th year, this free community touring program will bring professional theatre to economically, geographically, and culturally diverse communities throughout San Diego County and Tijuana, Mexico. This year’s production is directed by Marcela Lorca (The Old Globe’s Stir, Globe for All’s Julius Caesar) and features a company of nine actors. The four-week tour runs Tuesday, October 27 through Saturday, November 21, 2026. A full list of venues, dates, and times appears below.
The Old Globe is pleased to announce Romeo and Juliet, its final Shakespeare production of the year performed by students from The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Theatre Program. Directed by Kat Yen (La Jolla Playhouse’s All the Men Who’ve Frightened Me, Atlantic Theater Company’s Heart Strings), the limited engagement will play ten performances only from October 31 through November 8, 2026 in The Old Globe’s Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in Balboa Park. Tickets are now on sale for Globe subscribers, donors, and University of San Diego students, staff, and faculty, and will go on sale for the general public on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.

The Old Globe is thrilled to announce a one-week extension due to popular demand for the pre-Broadway engagement of the world premiere musical Begin Again. Following an enthusiastic response from audiences at its first performances, the production will now play through Sunday, October 18, 2026, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park (1363 Old Globe Way). The official press opening is Thursday, September 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the newly added performances go on sale Thursday, September 10 at 1 p.m. PDT at TheOldGlobe.org.

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 1, 2026) — The Old Globe is pleased to announce the full cast and creative team for Topdog/Underdog, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (Guthrie Theater’s Sally & Tom, Joe’s Pub’s Plays for the Plague Year) and directed by Steve H. Broadnax III (The Old Globe’s Appropriate, Broadway’s Thoughts of a Colored Man). In this modern classic, which The New York Times hailed as the greatest American play of the past 25 years, two brothers reckon with race, identity, ambition and the inescapable pull of family. Topdog/Underdog will play on the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park (1363 Old Globe Way). Performances run September 25 – October 18, 2026, with the official press opening Thursday, October 1, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at TheOldGlobe.org.

The Old Globe proudly announces its 2027 Season, a thrilling lineup of theatre filled with world premiere plays and musicals, West Coast and San Diego premieres, and two exciting Shakespeare plays. The season includes two world premiere musicals: August Rush: A New Musical—which features a book by Nick Blaemire (Broadway’s Glory Days, Off-Broadway’s Safety Not Guaranteed), music inspired by the Grammy- and Oscar-nominated motion picture, with additional songs by Blaemire, Van Hughes (A.R.T.'s Burn All Night, Off Broadway's Space Dogs) and by two-time Tony Award winner Tom Kitt (Broadway’s Next to Normal, Almost Famous), and others, and directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (The Old Globe’s Twelfth Night, Broadway’s In Transit)—and an electrifying new musical to be announced at a later date.

Based on the Exclusive Media film written and directed by John Carney (Once, Sing Street); the new musical features music and lyrics by Pat Monahan and the band Train (GRAMMY Awards for “Drops of Jupiter,” “Hey Soul Sister”); book by Jenna Clark Embrey (Literary Manager and Dramaturg at Lincoln Center Theater: The Lost Boys, Ragtime) and Molly Beach Murphy (The Alley Theatre’s Cowboy Bob, At Arles); music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Brian Usifer (Broadway’s Chess, Kinky Boots); choreography by David Neumann (Broadway’s Hadestown, Swept Away); and directed by Lorin Latarro (Broadway’s Waitress, Chess). Begin Again is produced by special arrangement with Stephanie Kramer, Tamar Climan, and Nicole Kramer. Performances run September 6 – October 11, 2026, with the opening on Thursday, September 17 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park.
