Our next chapter is here. This three-year strategic plan charts a bold path forward: growing WITS Rewritten toward tuition-free access at 40 K–12 schools, bringing a new book festival to Seattle, deepening access to literary experiences across the region, and strengthening our community partnerships and long-term sustainability. Download the full plan to see where we’re headed.

Last year, we served over 32,800 audience members and 6,000 K-12 public school students.

Writers in the Schools (WITS) Luncheon

Please join Seattle Arts & Lectures for an in-person luncheon fundraiser to support Writers in the Schools (WITS)! On Friday, October 2, we’ll gather for an inspiring afternoon celebrating the impact of WITS and the thousands of young people whose lives are enriched through creative writing, storytelling, and self-expression each year. Come hear firsthand from and be inspired by students, educators, and WITS writers as they share powerful stories about the role creative writing plays in fostering confidence, curiosity, and connection.

Funds raised from the luncheon supports WITS throughout the 2026/27 school year as well as SAL’s mission of cultivating spaces of creative expression for the next generation of writers and readers.

Support SAL

As an organization committed to nurturing our collective literary ecosystem, we lean into connection, reciprocity, and co-creation in all that we do. We look to you, the readers, thinkers, writers—the co-authors—of the SAL story to help carry our work forward in the next year. Your gift will help us make transformational experiences with stories and language accessible to all.

Individual Giving

We count on supporters like you to help us bring our community together—people of all ages and backgrounds—to read and write, to listen deeply, and to bring forward the voices we all need to hear. 60% of our annual revenue comes from charitable donations.

Institutional Giving

Generous support from corporate sponsors, foundations, and public entities makes it possible for us to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together for transformative literary arts experiences. Learn more about becoming a corporate sponsor today.

Planned Giving

Planned giving allows you to leave a literary legacy and helps ensure our ability to create transformative experiences for readers and writers of future generations. If SAL is important to you, your planned gift will help support the programs you love beyond your lifetime.
