I joined Black Press Media in 1995 as a sales representative at the Nanaimo News Bulletin and became sales manager at the newspaper in 2008. In 2017 I was appointed publisher of the Nanaimo News Bulletin. I also became the publisher of the Ladysmith Chronicle and Chemainus Valley Courier in 2021. I am very proud to be one of the many important contributors to the newspaper’s successes and our vital role in the communities we serve. I'm also an active volunteer with St John Ambulance in Nanaimo (since 2004 and admitted as a member to the Order of St John in 2021).

I joined the Nanaimo News Bulletin as a journalist in 2024, after working in television as a reporter with Global News in Regina. Before that I worked as an investigative journalist for a year at The Pointer in Ontario, and spent four years with Glacier Media in Saskatchewan covering COVID-19, municipal politics, school boards and Indigenous communities. I became News Bulletin editor in 2026.

Multimedia Journalist

I have been in the newspaper business on and off since I was hired to be a reporter at a small weekly in northern Newfoundland, called the nor’wester, in 1987. I spent four years working alone in a satellite office in a mining and fishing community for that paper before deciding to throw the dice and head to British Columbia.

I took a break from writing and worked a number of jobs on Vancouver Island before I was hired as a reporter at the Nanaimo Daily News in 2000, where I worked for 16 years. I was then transferred to the Cowichan Valley Citizen in 2016 and have had the pleasure of working with our dedicated staff and community here ever since. I joined the team at the News Bulletin in May 2026.

I’ve been with the Nanaimo Bulletin since 2001, previously I worked at our Richmond and Surrey newspapers. I found coming back to the island and working with my clients very rewarding because the feedback I get is almost always positive from the results they get from advertising with us! I find there is a real sense of community here and that we all want to see Nanaimo grow and prosper. I like to think The Bulletin helps to carry that message. After many years I’ve developed lifelong friendships with many of my clients. Island life is awesome!

I joined the Black Press Media team in 2023 as a multimedia consultant.

I thoroughly enjoy learning and collaborating with business owners to create impactful advertising.  My sales career began 20 years ago in the insurance industry but has since evolved, allowing me to explore a creative role with Black Press Media.

Assisting local businesses with their advertising needs has been a great experience this far. I look forward to connecting with new and longstanding business owners in our community to create meaningful advertising.
