Published by Golden Boot Media, co-founded by Antony Pinshaw and David Weiner in 2025, football360.com.au is on a mission to become the go-to destination for fans of football in Australia; a safe space and community for supporters built by fans of the game, for fans in the game, to shake up the way the sport is covered in 2025 in Australia.
There is a void of quality football storytelling and content in Australia at the moment. Our mission is to fill it.
Golden Boot Media has been joined in that mission by Ann Odong, a legend of the Australian media scene who is reviving her visionary brand The Women’s Game. We are privileged to bring it into the football360.com.au ecosystem. This will not just provide a convenient destination for fans, but provide unprecedented thought leadership, vision and commitment to the coverage of the sport, with The Women’s Game to complement football360.com.au’s editorial focus by doubling down on exploring the rich cultural world of women’s football, with a special focus on showcasing it from a players’ perspective.

For Golden Boot Media’s founders, the coverage of football in Australia was a contradiction that did not make sense when compared to the interest in football, the contribution it makes to our society and the opportunity the game provides. We all know it is the most participated sport, with equal access for males and females, played 12 months of the year and part of a global obsession that dots all the way from a six-year-old at the park to the brightest of lights of the Matildas and Socceroos on the biggest of world stages, with Australians playing and coaching in all corners of the globe.
Yet, in 2025, consistent mainstream media coverage has all but evaporated, and at times, one could argue takes a hostile view of the sport. Meanwhile, the last football-only platform, Optus Sport, was closed down, joining The World Game and others in the history books, while other domestic codes flourish with publishing behemoths behind them. Football has nowhere to call home – not owned by the leagues, or produced by the rights holder – to champion the sport’s cause or drive discussion, interest and build a news and content cycle. Meanwhile, elite media talent are being squeezed out of the game due to lack of opportunity. Important voices – let alone fresh, new ones – have had nowhere to be published. There is, encouragingly, an emerging layer of young, driven content creators taking the lead – who we are here to support or complement. But the game needs that, and much more.
Amongst all that, fans are being bamboozled with the amount of streaming platforms they need to subscribe to to consume the game. At last count, Paramount, Stan, beIN, SBS, Disney, DAZN, Apple TV+ and Seven have all shown matches in 2025 alone. Being a football fan in Australia in 2025 is not as easy as it is to be a rugby league or AFL fan. Some may even just render it too expensive or exhausting and jog on.
We want to connect these fragments and the disparate parts of the football world and make an essential destination, companion and community for football fans – and not treat them as a commodity or mere customers.
football360.com.au wants to not only make it more enjoyable to be a football fan, we want to make it easier as well. We want the fan to be the winner; we want the sport to flourish as a result of an independent one-stop-shop that becomes the editorial beating heart of the sport. We don’t just appear on the match day of a Socceroos or Matildas game; we’re there for the other 330-odd days a year – not just reporting what but asking why, how and what next.
We’ll ask the tough questions when needed but most of the time, we’ll remember why we all fell in love in the first place: football is fun, and such an enriching part of our lives; for many, it is a fantastical distraction from reality, transporting us all to a world of possibilities, with a hobby that forms commitments, bonds and friendships.
We are clearly ambitious. Our Co-Founders have more than 30 years combined experience at the forefront of digital media under their belts and want to take coverage of football to the place it should be in 2025. They are joined by a lean but world class team of professionals and contributors who want to ignite a conversation that lifts the sport, tells inspiring stories and makes heroes of our stars. There are so many football stories sitting on the table waiting to be told, to inspire younger generations and to have the modern football fan fall in love with a new, or different, part of the sport.
To do that, we will leverage technologies to help us remain a nimble, high-performing start-up. This will include using AI in a way that will augment, supplement and ultimately enhance the amount of content we produce. Where AI has been used to create a piece of content, we will mark the author as “football360.com.au”, while all other pieces will have an author name attached. All of our content, regardless of its source, will always be reviewed by a pair of human eyes before publication to ensure it meets our standards.
It is going to be a journey, we aren’t going to be perfect, but from little things, big things will hopefully grow. We are excited for you to join us on that ride.
