Dear players and fans of TibiaME,

The last few months have been very exciting for our team. Alongside the big summer update, we have been working hard in the background to make TibiaME a safe game for active customers. To do this, we took a close look at which devices are actually being used to play, and where there are loopholes that allow less honest players to cheat and gain unfair advantages.

We tested many of these new techniques on the new World 41, which was only available to devices with access to the official Apple and Google Stores, and discovered two things there: If we leave even a tiny crack open for hackers and botters, it gets exploited immediately. And if we keep bots out of the system as much as possible, active players have much more fun.

In its first two months, World 41 became the most successful world in TibiaME since 2014. We see this on all levels and across all active characters. That was the first step in seeing that we are on the right track.

Using our findings regarding bots, we bannished several players over the summer for a few weeks who were very clearly playing with bots. Operators of commercial bots, in particular, did not like this. However: At no point did we see normal players leaving TibiaME as a result.

Then came a short, tough period where botters wanted to vent their anger over our measures and flooded all game worlds (except the secured 41) with Level 1 characters, just to prevent others from playing. This kept us busy for a while because we had to find measures that normal players wouldn't even notice, but which would prevent these bots from entering TibiaME in the first place.

In this context, we took a close look at the software being used to play. Only a small fraction of players still use the old phones that TibiaME launched with twenty years ago. Quite a few more use the equally outdated web client, although mostly as a gateway for bots. What surprised us was that practically all players also play on an iPhone or Android mobile phone. On average, TibiaME characters use more than two devices per month, and at least one of them is a modern phone.

Because we saw with World 41 how much fun our players have without bots, and since the portion of players without a modern device is vanishingly small, we will be transitioning all game worlds starting in mid-October. In other words:

Starting mid-October, TibiaME will only be playable using the Apple App Store or Google Play Store client, version 2.49 or higher. All other versions and devices will no longer be able to play.

Also important: No, you cannot somehow install a client from another store. Starting with version 2.49, TibiaME checks whether the client or the phone has been tampered with. This is the same security feature that banking apps use, for example. This security feature is sometimes blocked by the use of VPNs. To play TibiaME, the app must be downloaded from the official store and no VPN can be active.

Yes, we know that a few players currently do not have a compatible device. But TibiaME requires very few resources and runs flawlessly even on older phones, as long as they use the official app stores. If necessary, players can get an older used phone.

We will not switch all game worlds on the same day, but it will start in mid-October, transitioning world by world. Anyone who wants to technically verify if it works with their own phone can simply create a character on World 41 and log in there once.

Those who want to play on a PC running Windows can use the Google Play for Windows client, which is also certified. Emulators like Bluestacks will not work.

Since we will no longer support the other platforms in the future, we will have more opportunities to improve TibiaME on iPhone and Android. We have big plans here for 2027. At the end of 2026, however, there will still be a content update and lots of small improvements in the existing worlds.
