The City of Beaumont is a council-manager form of government. Elections are held for all council members in odd years, with the mayor and council members each serving two-year terms. All powers of the city are vested in the City Council, which enacts local legislation, adopts budgets, and determines policies.
The City Manager's Office oversees the daily administrative operations. The Office is responsible for implementing council policies, managing departments, and preparing municipal budgets.
The City Clerk’s Office oversees the City’s official records, including ordinances, resolutions, deeds, contracts, leases, easements, annexation proceedings, petitions, and minutes of City Council and other official bodies; processes all notices for publication; receives competitive bids and records minutes of the official bid opening sessions.
The City Attorney's Office provides legal counsel and representation for the City Council, City Manager, all City Departments and Commissions. Services provided include preparation and review of ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, liens and other legal documents.
