About Nootropics.com
Nootropics.com is a reference to substances taken to improve thinking, focus, mood or sleep: what the research on each one found, the doses studied, the side effects recorded and where it is legal.
What the site publishes
The core of the site is 160 substance entries, from caffeine, L-theanine and creatine to racetams, adaptogens and prescription stimulants such as modafinil. Each entry follows the same record: an overall evidence grade, a grade for each claimed benefit, the dose range used in studies, recorded side effects, legal status in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union and Australia, and the studies behind them, 133 distinct PubMed references in all.
Pages for dosage, side effects, legal status and 471 side-by-side comparisons are built from those same records, as are 34 documented stacks and the tools. The methodology page explains how the grades and scores are set and where the records have gaps.
What it does not do
- It does not recommend a dose, a substance or a stack for anyone. Dose figures describe research use.
- It does not diagnose or treat. Entries summarise research and are not medical advice.
- It does not sell supplements. Buy links go to outside retailers; see disclosures.
Who runs it
Entries are not currently reviewed by a named clinician. The editorial policy sets out how they are compiled and checked instead.
The domain carried an earlier nootropics research site from 1998 to 2016. The current reference was built in 2026; links to the old site's pages are redirected to the matching entries where one exists.
How it is paid for
Affiliate commissions from retailers, paid vendor listings, sponsored reviews and sales of the site's annual report, The State of Nootropics 2026. The disclosures page lists each one and what it can and cannot change.
