Fatal Crash in Standish

On 09/27/2026 at approximately 0100 hours, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded with Standish Fire and EMS to Chadbourne Road in Standish for a sedan versus flatbed tow truck crash. The first citizen on scene reported that the sedan was on fire and Gorham Fire and EMS, Raymond Fire and EMS, and Windham Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.
The initial investigation determined that Leo Rocco (48) of Baldwin was operating a 1996 International flatbed tow truck, traveling Northbound on Chadbourne Road. Luke Boyle (32) of Portland and Trista Townsend (37) of Limington were the passengers in the tow truck. A black Chevy Impala appears to have crossed the center line and struck the tow truck head-on. All three occupants of the tow truck were transported to Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the Impala died on scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The identity of the deceased driver is pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Windham Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
Speed appears to be an initial factor in this crash investigation.
