About Us
Karen Hill
Group Publisher
In October of 1989, I began my career in the classified department at the Capital News. I spent 17 years in the accounting department, where I worked my way up to group controller for the Interior with Lower Mainland Publishing and then West Partners Publishing. When Black Press Media purchased the Capital News in 2003, I integrated into the accounting department, working with the president on all the southern divisions. In 2006, I took on the position of publisher at the Vernon Morning Star. After four years there, I made my way back to Kelowna in September 2010 as Group Publisher of the Capital News, West K News, Lake Country Calendar, Salmon Arm Observer, Revelstoke Review, and our specialty publication Okanagan Food & Wine Trails.

Jordy Cunningham
Multimedia Journalist
I am a reporter for Black Press Media's Kelowna Capital News and West K News. Hailing from Ladner, B.C., I have been passionate about sports, especially baseball, since I was young. In 2018, I graduated from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops with a Bachelor of Journalism degree, all while playing on the baseball team for five years. During my studies, I realized that writing about sports every day would be a dream come true, leading me to pursue the journalism program. Between 2017-19, I served as the Media Relations Assistant for the Vancouver Canadians, a Toronto Blue Jays affiliate. Here at Kelowna Capital News and West K News, I mainly cover Kelowna's sports beat, and I strive to be the first to break a story.

I grew up in Ontario, moved west to start my career in TV and radio in 2018, and have been living in Kelowna since February 2020. I'm a research nerd and love getting story tips from the community.
