About Me2026-08-17T19:28:10+00:00

Hey, I’m Jackie

I’m so excited you’re here!

I’m Jackie – an adventure travel blogger and professional photographer based near the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York.

I created The Adventures Atlas in 2017 to share the places, trails and experiences that genuinely take your breath away – and give you the firsthand information you need to experience them for yourself.

A Little About Me

I grew up exploring the Adirondacks in NY and have been hiking these trails for more than 25 years. I know this region the way most people know their own neighborhood. So when I write about a hike near Lake Placid or a hidden corner of Upstate New York, it isn’t based on one quick weekend trip. It comes from a lifetime of showing up, getting lost and finding the good stuff.

I believe the places that stick with us are also the ones we feel most motivated to protect. That’s why I care so deeply about meaningful travel and genuinely connecting with the landscapes, wildlife and ecosystems that make each destination extraordinary.

Over the years, travel has taken me from the glaciers of Patagonia to the volcanic landscapes of Iceland, the Moai of Rapa Nui, and Antarctica aboard a National Geographic expedition through the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic Peninsula. I’ve documented those experiences to help other travelers plan their own adventures with realistic, trustworthy information (not just generic bucket list advice).

These days, my fiancé, Greg, and I experience many of these adventures together, documenting everything from weekend road trips close to home to bucket-list expeditions around the world.

The Places That Changed My Life

Every traveler has a handful of places that completely reshape the way they see the world.

For me, those places are:

• The Adirondacks, New York – my backyard and my first love. The place that taught me what it means to truly know a landscape over time.

• Rapa Nui (Easter Island) – standing under the Milky Way at 2 AM surrounded by the Moai on one of the most remote inhabited islands on Earth. I’ve never experienced anything else quite like it.

• Iceland – one of the first places that made me realize the world is so much wilder and more surreal than I ever imagined.

• Antarctica – the most humbling place I’ve ever visited. I traveled there aboard a National Geographic expedition through the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic Peninsula. It was vast, silent, wild, and almost impossible to put into words.

• The Dolomites, Italy – possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen ( + the place where Greg proposed!)

These are the kinds of experiences I’m always chasing, and the ones I hope to help you discover too
