1081 August: Most of the Burgundy Canal is basically closed to navigation for several reasons, including maintenance work at the Panthier reservoir, which feeds most of the Sa&ocirc;ne section, and the drought, which has severely reduced water levels in many areas. You will not be able to traverse the whole canal until 2027. Please check with the VNF for official updates and news.</p>
109<p>15 March : The canal is now open for navigation. Please check the following page <a href="https://www.burgundy-canal.com/navigation-conditions">Navigation Conditions</a> for more details and especially the closure on the Sa&ocirc;ne side due to works on the Panthier reservoir.</p>
110<h3>2025 - 2026 winter closure</h3>
111<p>The Burgundy Canal is closed to navigation from Laroche-Migennes to Saint-Jean-De-Losne from 17th November 2025 until 15th March 2026.</p>

115<h3>Demand by the council of the C&ocirc;te d'Or</h3>
116<p>The council of the C&ocirc;te d'Or has demanded that the <strong>VNF</strong> (the national agency in charge of the French waterways) take responsibility for maintaining and operating the section of the canal from Veneray-l&egrave;s-Laumes to Pouilly-en-Auxois.&nbsp;</p>

119<p>The Panthier reservoir will be emptied in September 2025 for maintenance and repair work, which is estimated to take 12 months. The result will enable the reservoir to be filled to its maximum depth of 14.03 metres, impacting navigation and operations on the Sa&ocirc;ne side of the canal.</p>
