Helaba CEO Thomas Groà calls for more work. Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing urges greater willingness to perform. 6PSD Bank Braunschweig raised its loan volume target to 130 million euros â with a 4-day week. Raiffeisen Appenzeller Hinterland was one of the first banks in Austria to pilot the model â with measurable effects on employee satisfaction and employer attractiveness. 7Skills shortages and demographic change are hitting banks hard, especially in rural areas. Flexible working models are no longer a nice-to-have. They can be a strategic instrument to stay relevant as an employer â and deliver. 8In this webinar we explore how flexible working models such as a 4-day week can make banks future-ready. As guests and contributors, you will meet two board members who show us which effects the introduction had â and which it did not. 9Our guests: 10ð¦ Simon Frehner â Chair of the Bank Management, Raiffeisenbank Appenzeller Hinterland 11ð¦ Carsten Graf â Spokesperson of the Board, PSD Bank Braunschweig 12Moderated by: 13Carsten Meier â 4-Day Week Germany Initiative 14Veit Hailperin â 4-Day Week Austria 15What to expect: 16â How does implementation really work in the banking sector? 17â What does it deliver for recruiting and retention â and what does it not? 18â Which flexible models work, which fail? 19â Tough questions on productivity, sick leave and customer experience 20For board members, executive management and HR leaders in banks and financial institutions.`,"faq.label":"Good to Know","faq.title":"Frequently Asked Questions","faq.showMore":"Show more questions","faq.q1":"What is the core of the 4-day week?","faq.a1":"The core is the reduction of working hours at full salary. At the same time, the way of working is changed so that the same work output can be achieved without causing additional stress.","faq.q2":"Do all employees have to participate in the study?","faq.a2":"No. It is possible for only part of the company to participate. If the number of employees is large enough, there is even scientific interest in having a control group within the same company.","faq.q3":"Who can participate in the study?","faq.a3":"Companies and organisations looking for ways to improve employer attractiveness, retention and team productivity. All industries, sectors and company sizes are relevant.","faq.q4":"How are participating companies supported?","faq.a4":"Participation includes: a digital platform with resources, training at digital events, mentoring by experts, a network with other companies and scientific supervision by TU Wien and Webster Vienna Private University.","faq.q6":"What about part-time employees?","faq.a6":"There are various solutions for part-time in a 4-day week. We can discuss these in a free conversation, but at the latest in the preparation phase this topic is actively addressed.","faq.q7":"Isn't the 4-day week model too rigid?","faq.a7":"There is no single 4-day week model. There are a variety of models, each with their pros and cons. We support the search for a suitable model â regardless of whether shift work or opening hours need to be considered.","faq.q8":"How much time needs to be invested?","faq.a8":"The time commitment depends on the size of the organisation. During the preparation phase (approx. 2 months), we estimate around 2â4 hours per week for the project team. During the test phase, the new model runs in day-to-day operations â the additional effort is limited to short check-ins and participation in the scientific survey.","faq.q9":"Can we book just the strategy phase first?","faq.a9":"Yes. The strategy phase can be booked on its own. It provides a sound basis for decision-making and a clear roadmap â with no obligation to continue into the preparation or test phase afterwards.","faq.q10":"What happens if the pilot fails?","faq.a10":`That is exactly what the test phase is for: a risk-minimising reality check with a clear exit. If the defined success criteria are not met, you can return to the 5-day week in an orderly way â legally, this is safeguarded from the outset through the time-limited pilot agreement. The gained benefits will typically fade again, but you are no worse off than before the test phase. 21 22A "failure" in the narrow sense is rare, however. In the vast majority of cases, the test phase delivers solid data on what works and what does not. Often this results in an adjusted model (e.g. different cadence, partial areas, longer transition) rather than a full reversal. 23 24The few companies that do return after a test still experience the test as a positive learning experience.`,"faq.q11":"How long does a full implementation take?","faq.a11":`For smaller companies that move through the three phases directly and without breaks, the total duration is usually 9 to 10 months. 25 26For mid-sized companies, experience shows that 12 to 14 months are realistic, as the preparation phase often takes longer due to more complex structures. 27 28Important to know: each phase can be extended individually. Pauses between phases are also possible and sometimes useful â for instance, to wait for an important board meeting or to shift the test phase into a commercially more favourable time of year.`,"faq.q12":"Is there evidence from my industry, e.g. banking?","faq.a12":"Yes. Regional banks, savings banks and cooperative banks across the DACH region have piloted the 4-day week successfully â with measurable effects on applications, turnover and sick days. You can find a case overview and a whitepaper at banking.4-tagewoche.ch.
