Order the list any other way and you're not reading who's nearest â you're reading who spent most.</p> 51<p class="micro">Same order for everyone, every list, every time.</p> 52<h2>Why some names are bold</h2> 53<p>A bold name has the word <strong>Verified</strong> beside it. It means two things are true at once: an official public re
53cord matches that business, and somebody has confirmed the listing recently â us in person, the owner themselves, or enough people locally saying it still looks right.</p> 54<p>That's all it means. Not better, not recommended, not higher up. It's free, every business earns it the same way, and there is no version of it that can be bought. Move the money, and nothing moves at all â bold changes how a name looks, never where it sits.</p> 55<p><a href="/verified">What "Verified" means, in full â</a></p> 56<p class="micro">Most listings aren't marked. That's usually just nobody having been past recently.</p> 57<h2>What you can pay us for</h2> 58<p>Some businesses pay us for tools: a way to reach the people who already follow them, and a count of how many are waiting. None of it shows on the listing as a badge, none of it changes the order, and none of it hides anything true about a business that doesn't pay.</p> 59<h2>Where each fact came from</h2> 60<p>Every fact says where it came from, so you don't have to assume.</p> 61<ul> 62<li><strong>From open data.</strong> Pulled from OpenStreetMap or another public source, and labelled as such.</li> 63<li><strong>Checked in person.</strong> Someone from Kist went, or phoned, and the date is on the page.</li> 64<li><strong>Not recently confirmed.</strong> Nobody's checked in a while. We'd rather say so than let it sit there looking current.</li> 65</ul> 66<p>That last one is the honest bit. A directory that never admits it's out of date is just guessing with confidence. If something looks wrong to you, it might be â <a href="/tell-us">tell us</a>.</p> 67<p class="micro">A date you can act on beats a promise you can't check.</p> 68<p class="attribution">Open data used on this site is available under the <a href="https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Open Database Licence</a>.</p> 69<p class="back"><a href="/directory">â All businesses</a> · <a href="/about">About Kist</a></p> 70`,f=[`ordering_commitment`],p={html:d,placeholders:f},m=t({default:()=>_,html:()=>h,placeholders:()=>g}),h=`<h1>Why I built this</h1> 71<p class="salutation">Hello â I'm Jiveen.</p> 72<p>I live near Buchlyvie, and I built Kist Directory because I kept noticing the same thing: some of the best food round here is made by people almost nobody can find. A butcher with no website. A croft that only exists on Facebook. A van in a different village each week â if you happen to know which one.</p> 73<p>Meanwhile, the same handful of chains show up first in every search, every time, because that's what the internet rewards.</p> 74<p>That didn't sit right with me. Behind every name on this list is somebody up at four to get the bread on, or out in the field before it's light. They've no time to fight the internet for attention â and they shouldn't have to.</p> 75<p>So I built a kist. A kist is where you keep what's worth keeping â and that's what this is: the food made across Forth Valley and Stirlingshire, all in one place, kept right.</p> 76<p>A few things worth knowing, because I think they matter:</p> 77<p><strong>It's just me.</strong> One person, working from home in Buchlyvie. I'm not building the next tech giant â I'm building something this corner of Scotland can rely on, and I intend to keep it that way.</p> 78<p><strong>There's no catch.</strong> Every business is listed free, forever, and the list runs A to Z â nobody can pay to move up it. That's built into how the thing works, not written in a marketing plan. Somewhere down the line, a business might choose to pay for extra tools; being on the list, and being found, will never cost anyone a penny.</p> 79<p><strong>Your email is yours.</strong> Follow a business and it's used for exactly that, nothing else â and businesses never see it. One tap to stop, any time.</p> 80<p><strong>If something's wrong, tell me.</strong> If a business is missing, tell me that too. Locals who know their village, businesses who know their trade, and me making sure it all adds up â that's the whole model.</p> 81<p>And if you find this useful, the most powerful thing you can do costs nothing: mention it. Tell a neighbour about the fish van. Tell the baker she's on here. Round here, one person telling another is how anything good travels â and it's how this grows.</p> 82<p>Run one of these places yourself? You're likely already on here, put together from what's already public â and it's <a href="/for-owners">yours to take over any time</a>, free.</p> 83<p>Thank you for being here.</p> 84<p class="signature">Jiveen</p> 85<p class="signature-meta">Kist Directory · Made in Buchlyvie</p> 86<p class="after">If you'd like to hear what's about, <a href="/directory#follow-the-region">you can follow the region</a>.</p> 87`,g=[],_={html:h,placeholders:g},v=t({default:()=>x,html:()=>y,placeholders:()=>b}),y=`<h1>Privacy Notice</h1> 88<p class="updated">Last updated: 3 July 2026</p> 89<section> 90<h2>Who we are</h2> 91<p>Kist Directory is a community food directory for Forth Valley, Scotland, run by a sole founder.
