La fortezza è impostata su di un blocco tronco piramidale di circa 40 metri di lato, interamente avvolto da una camicia in laterizi di recupero. Percorrendo la marciaronda in direzione sud est, si arriva alla torre di avvistamento seicentesca e alle annesse stanze del corpo di guardia che hanno subito pesanti manomissioni prima negli anni Venti e poi tra gli anni Sessanta e Settanta del secolo scorso.
