7 description: `ML upscaling algorithms are neural nets that have been trained on thousands of images against low resolution versions of the same images. This way they learn to predict high resolution images from low resolution versions and can effectively quadruple definition in arbitrary images.
8 After downscaling the original images to 125 x 125 pixels, I use a chain of different upscaling models trained on wood, faces and photos from Flickr, to upscale to 8k. This gave the algorithm space to invent its own details as it upscales - wood grain, cracks, hairs, skin-like imperfections - which results in very rich, physical images with lots of fine natural details. The whole process is entirely digital, but the result at times seems like it could be hand-painted.`,

35 description: `Zero Point, the last track on my debut album is a representation of how at some point in the distant future the universe might collapse back in on itself in The Big Crunch, returning to the sea of noise from which it was born. The idea for this video was born from AV experiments in the game engine Unity. I had a clear idea of the start, middle and ending, and the rest came out of experiments with a custom preset system I made for capturing snapshots of the current state. I felt like a photographer in a made-up universe, spending hours tweaking parameters and exploring the space, taking snapshots all the time. The shots are abstract, but have a kind of realism to them that I like. They are of nothing in particular and are generated entirely algorithmically, but seem to suggest real places and cosmic scenes - stars, nebulae and alien planets. That strange mashup of different physical size and time scales is something unique to the cosmos, and it fascinates me.`,

In keeping with the theme of order from chaos, the idea for the video was to design a set of simple shapes that start randomly displaced, but gradually slot into their correct placement, creating the sensation of something structured emerging from disorder.`,
