25
Ernst Refflinghaus is not making many anvils. Only a few per year. If interested in a Refflinghaus Anvil and you are willing to wait, send me an email and check back periodically. I do not take orders for anvils if I do not know if and when Refflinghaus will be making a particular anvil. If I know I will receive the anvil you want, I’ll take a 20% down payment and hold one for you until I receive it . I expect some anvils in June 2023. Anvils I know are coming are priced below by the anvil. Scroll to the right if necessary to see the price. The pandemic, the Ukraine war, and the resulting increase in prices of energy, steel, and labor have had an effect on prices in Germany and therefore Refflinghaus Anvils.

31

32
Description

33
Much desired useable smooth transition between the main face and round horn. True original design which was made as early as the year 1825, and possibly earlier.

34
The #58 & #57 anvil have evolved over time to be the most desired anvil design, and along with the London pattern anvil they are found in use more than any other style.

35
Typically the #58 anvil used with the round horn to the left (offhand side) as the smith stands by the anvil. The side shelf and upsetting block are therefore on the far side of the anvil. Can be used by both right and left handed smiths.

36
#58 has a side shelf used similar as a heel on a London Pattern anvil, but is often used as a support for the iron being forged, particularly when forge welding. Helps keeps the forging from falling off the anvil.

37
Makes a wide anvil out of a narrow anvil. Narrow is generally preferred for ornamental work.

355
Wobble free ANVIL STANDS - Fabricated

356
I have a few and when they are gone, they will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE.

357

358
Description

359
No wobble, three legged, anvil stands sit very solid on an uneven floor. Anvil stands are sized for 165, 220, 275, 330, 460, 550 lb. anvils. Prices are $700.00 for all but the 460 and 550 lb. anvil stand which are $800.00. They weigh between 100 and 150 lb. each. The anvil base sized to fit the anvil is 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch plate and includes integrated bending forks. The legs are 2 inch by 4 inch 1/4 inch iron or 4 inch by 4 inch. They are designed to make the anvil 32 inches high. Blocks can be placed under the feet to make them taller. Custom height anvil stands can be made for an additional $150.00 and additional wait time. Anvils bolt solidly to the stand making a very solid integral unit, which has the effect of increasing the weight of the anvil. The easy to use fastening system and the flat bottom of the anvils also eliminates the anvil ring. The included tool holder can be used for hammers, tongs, or hardy tools. Stands are designed to be bolted to a concrete or wood floor or pegged into dirt, if desired.

362
Refflinghaus Anvils originate in kilograms and millimeters. The conversion from the metric to the imperial system and manufacturing variables result in the approximate sizes and weights indicated. Variations of up to 10% in sizes and weights can be expected.

363
Hardy holes are finish punched by hand, and could be over or under-sized. They taper slightly, and are relatively smooth inside. Pritchel holes are drilled.

364
*Unlike most new cast anvils made today, Refflinghaus Anvil face hardness compares to the best of the older wrought iron anvils that had a forge welded & water hardened face plate of hot rolled high carbon steel, yet without the potential problem of having the plate come loose.

365
**Refflinghaus Anvils are cast and made of a proprietary high grade steel known for its toughness and hardening properties. For good information on casting steel compared to steel forging see: https://www.sfsa.org/castingsvforgings.php
