We went even further, because a Guild Island can be open at the same time, to a guild but also to others players. The other challenge was to manage an island's creatures. They had to be added first of all when a player enters the island and then after each server reboot. We used a method that we had previously added to test dynamic events. In the end, to save as much time as possible, we try to create very flexible, generic systems, we test them and use them in as many projects as possible. Of course, you have to be here just in the beginning to see the entire animated sequence, but for the ones present, it gives a little magic touch. Aileya worked for the past few weeks on the shape and texture of the new yubo boss.",text111:"Daemonixus: Around two years. I started by wanting to create kitin invasion that would be totally automatic in their operation. During development of this first version of DE, I realized that the principle could also be suitable for classic missions. So I started again almost from the beginning to create the 2.0 version of DE, to have a joint part of the coding. At a more advanced stage, I wanted to duplicate the coding from my first mission, the Fairhaven federal merchant, to create another one, the Pyr Corporal. In hindsight, I saw that too much coding dedicated to DE management was still mixed with the coding for the mission itself. That was making DE duplication more difficult. So, I create the 3.0 version, the actual version, that looks like a little framework where the coding for DE management is really different from the coding of the DE themselves, which makes them more readable. That is the background.",text112:"What were the biggest problems you had during development?",text113:"Daemonixus: One and only problem, even before DE, understanding ARK smiles and all that is around it, and the only way to progress is to make mistakes, so I have made a lot... And I have still things to discover. I also had to choose the place of the NPCs that will be used because they are not all adapted to DE. So you have to look for the good NPCs and test each DE with each NPC.",text114:"For the rest, it's not a problem at all, but a facet I didn't know in events: the steps back and forth between the first tests and remarks, and the DE I proposed. So it is not the players or an animator who launch it. Have a look at Atys' map, classic missions represent the NPC's demands that players can satisfy if they wish. Now, let's imagine the same Atys' map, but, this time, it will be the NPCs who will indicate their demands, and this, during a given time. Example, a barman may have an important order to provide to a NPC in a short time. The players will have to help to do a part of this order. So you will have to look regularly at a kind of map - You can see an old version below - to know what is ongoing on the Bark.",text40:"Interview with Drecyan",text109:"There are also kitin invasion type DE, which will also be launched automatically, at any time. These invasions will be able to adapt themselves to the number of players in the event.",text42:"Drecyan: I started Ryzom - I mean, Saga of Ryzom! - in January 2005, a few months after its release. For example the source-code is old and it wasn't considered that some functions would need to be changed or extended later on. I had to use the 'trial-and-error' method. It takes a lot of time to fix small things, but it's the only way to do it. Also, there is no documentation, so I have to relearn everything. Furthermore, there are no good tools, especially for the User Interface (UI). There is no real-time editor for it, so I have to fix the code itself with a text editor. Everytime I change something, I need to relaunch the game to see the result. It is a time-consuming process, but it's worth it. Also many of the source files are lost. They are compromised in the server data. The client can extract the data, but it is very difficult for us to read it (to extract work files from it), which makes it much more complicated, if we want to change or add something."},"2":{text26:"Can you tell us more about Implication?",text25:"Ulukyn: The Wheel is only one of the reward systems we wanted to put in game. Indeed, through dynamic events, daily missions, or even other means implemented later, players gain Implication. This Implication can then be used to perform tasks with NPCs. Currently, Implication only allows you to win known items such as sap crystals and generic materials. But it is a very versatile and simple system to set up, which will offer many possibilities in terms of rewards. We can imagine players using their Implication to perform special tasks (and quick tasks knowing that they already have to work to get involved) to help their nation or faction by getting items or other benefits. There is only the wheel where you need to gamble with tokens, which is okay so far, but it seems it is the only way to get interesting rewards. Players are worried that they will be forced to gamble for rewards all the time. It therefore seemed beneficial to us to gather around a common project and to unify our efforts to move it forward together. Particularly important is this last chronotope of Ryzom/Atys as a space of liberty: the freedom of Ryzom as software is the freedom of the world of Atys; the âsandboxâ properties of the game-world as a space for enacting new âemergentâ narratives (that is, unplanned and unscripted âbottom upâ rather than scripted âtop downâ narratives), embodies the liberal political philosophy of the designers, creators who build their worlds as spaces of freedom; the âbottom upâ emergence of distinct communities of play territorialized within individual servers leads to each server becoming an autonomous world unto itself, raising conflicts when these server worlds are merged together. Each case I will consider here involves a moment when Atys as a world, whether as game or as an individual server, ceases to exist, producing a sense of real loss or bereavement, and a concomitant political engagement to revive, and at the same time âfreeâ, that world.â",text34:"Maupas: I can at least make a brief presentation of it. This is an ethnographic article that examines, based on the case of our favourite game, the ability of MMORPGs to âmake the worldâ, to generate coherent universes. In doing so, it shows how Ryzom revealed, on the occasion of the successive crisis that have shaken it over the past fifteen years, its particular coherence around the notion of freedom, from the game as played (game mechanics, types of action, sets, background, etc...) to the game as built (coding and communication tools, ways of working of the dev team, etc...), including the game as lived (community of players, mutual support, attitudes, etc.). But I must confess that if I suggested to Tamarea to translate it (and to you to mention it in the present issue of âBehind the scenesâ) that's because I learned, while reading it, a lot about the history of Ryzom and thought that other players interested in the said history could also learn a lot (as soon as they would not be put off by the particular vocabulary it uses. *smile*"}

(Quality of Life) improvements. These are the kind of refinements that are normally quite small but enhance the player experience enormously. Ryzom has a big potential for these kinds of improvements, and I tend to prefer working on them. Of course, there is the higher-level content that is interesting, but the small improvements are usually more feasible and are just as appreciated by the players. However, I quickly realized that the task was going to be a bit too difficult since I had barely begun to familiarize myself with Ryzom\\'s code. To start, my history with Ryzom is lengthy. I discovered Ryzom in 2011 when a friend introduced it to me. I immediately fell in love with it, as I had never played this kind of game before. I played until 2017, when I took a break, and I came back in 2021, still as a player. I joined the Ryzom team a few months after my return. It allowed me to create many friendships, and I feel a lot of nostalgia when I think back to my early days on the game. When I returned in 2021, I was deeply saddened to learn that a majority of the people I used to play with had stopped playing. Like many, I felt that the game, especially because of its bugs, was a lost cause. However, I couldn\\'t help but noticed that the spirit of community had not ceased, which made me start playing again. The more I played, the more ideas I had for the game. I felt the need to give back to this game that was so dear to me. In particular, I dreamed of solving the most annoying bugs and finally adding in the improvements that we had been requested for so long. I didn't want to spend weeks or months trying to find a publisher who would publish my work, or who w

To write all by yourself and to feel emotions while making the characters you have invented come alive, that's already powerful. To succeed in transmitting these emotions is on a whole other level...",text2:"Today, I have the pleasure to interview Rémi Dromnelle, the talented author of the book The Sacred War.",text_a4:"R: A few months after I started Ryzom, I discovered the Atys Prowlers guild. I was instantly fascinated by the menacing aura that emanated from its members. I still remember the initiation rite they gave me and the ceremony that followed, during which my PC crashed! When I reconnected, they had killed me, considering that my avatar had fallen asleep during the ceremony.

Once I was recruited, I immediately understood that this martial atmosphere was actually the RP facade of a very welcoming and warm group. I also discovered an original guild lore based on a dark and cryptic mythology, imagined by its members, especially two of them: Kalchek and Damakian. If I had to retain only one of the ideas that made an impression on me, it would be the existence, in the past, of a Black Masked Zoraï who lived in the Old Lands.

In the years that followed, I became very interested in the Marauders and the Old Lands. Thus, I began to imagine the story of the Black Masked Zoraï and the crusade he might have led.

It was only in 2018, when I was coming back to Ryzom after a break of several years, that I got the idea to put this story in writing. Encouraged by Lai'Suki, then by Nilstilar, I started to work on it, at a rate of about 3 chapters per year published on the official forum.

Everything changed at the end of 2020 when you contacted me: you said you had read and loved the draft of my story and wanted to know if writing Ryzom-labeled short stories would appeal to me. I was interested in the idea, but didn't want to give up my story. That's why we finally decided to take it back and make it into a more elaborated project. If I'm not mistaken, the idea was more or less given to you by Nilstilar.

Incidentally, it is worth noting that my novel is and will remain a fanfiction. Of course, I try to stick as much as possible to the Ryzom Lore and its History. However, I don't want my vision of the Ryzom universe to be authoritative, nor do I want certain points of the Lore to prevent me from expressing myself fully.
",text_a3:"R: That's a bit complicated, haha.

I played two characters both suffering from dissociative personality disorder: Kiriga / Ki'yumé and Vao / Ki'gan. I'll talk about them more in details. For those who are not interested, you can skip to the next question!

Kiriga was a young Zoraï in search of meaning who was seduced by the apocryphal Kamic precepts preached by the Atys Prowlers. In short, the Atys Prowlers revered the Kamis and Ma-Duk, but refuted the writings of Hoi-Cho about the Kamism of Revelations. They followed their own writings: the Black Cult of Ma-Duk. Like all members of his guild, Kiriga was a religious fanatic who waged a permanent war against the Karavan and its supporters, and was also very critical of other Kamists whom he considered too limp.

The years passed, and gradually the Atys Prowlers guild fell apart. Mad with anger and sadness at seeing his comrades desert one by one, some even joining the ranks of the Karavan, Kiriga fell into a deep depression. He began to consume toxic psychotropic drugs and learned to create them himself.

This is how he created the Black Sap (or rather the different types of Black Sap), of which he was the first guinea pig. Little by little, the drug destroyed him and gave birth to a monstrous personality: Ki'yumé. A horrible being whose only ambition was to create a maximum of chaos.

To reach his delirious objectives, Ki'yumé answered the call for the Marauders launched by Akilia. An Akilia who had, according to him, sunk in a murderous madness for already a long time. Accompanied by comrades to whom he offered his stimulating psychotropic drugs, he co-founded the Marauder Clan of the Black Sap.

Over the next few years, Ki'yumé wreaked havoc on the New Lands, carrying out several attacks and capturing the Awakened Ki'atal. He finally died under mysterious circumstances during the Second Great Swarm, as did many other homins.

Vao Lu-Ho
46o, also a Zoraï, was one of the emissaries of the Clan of the Black Sap, who was captured by the Zoraï Theocracy while on a diplomatic mission to Zora. What the Theocracy did not know at the time was that Vao was also one of Ki'yumé's disciples. A disciple who had been chosen not without reason. Indeed, Vao was suffering from dissociative identity disorder caused by severe childhood trauma. For Ki'yumé, he was a perfect testing ground.

Locked in Zora's jails during the Second Great Swarm, Vao survived the Kitins' attack and fled when the attack subsided. Unable to face the mountain of challenges ahead, he gradually let his second personality take over. This one was called Ki'gan and never gave back control to Vao. For several years, Ki'gan searched for his master, in vain, but found nevertheless some of his fellow Marauders. As the last of them to know the secrets of Ki'yumé's drug production, he finally replaced him as the Clan's alchemist.

During the long years that followed, Ki'gan, like his late mentor, carried out numerous attacks against the various Atysian nations. However, unlike Ki'yumé who seemed to be driven only by madness, Ki'gan was a true political activist, wishing for the abolition of governments and the rebellion of homins against the Powers.

One day, and without anyone knowing why, Ki'gan disappeared. When he reappeared a few decades later, it was not Ki'gan who showed up, but Vao. An amnesic Vao, unaware of his criminal past and from whom 30 years of life had been stolen.",text_a6:"R: To begin with, I will perhaps break a "taboo" by revealing that I am not a great reader. While I may have been in my youth, I now read two novels a year at most. This year, I haven't finished any of them yet... Otherwise, I often read tabletop roleplaying game manuals, especially when they have a very dense lore... I love reading fictional universe bibles.

All this to say that you don't have to be a big reader, or have read all the "classics" of fantasy or science fiction, to write fantasy yourself. That should never stop people from getting started!

Since I don't read much, my cultural references are mostly movies, TV shows, anime and games. This explains why I often put the emphasis on descriptions: I visualize absolutely everything I write. Ideally, I would have a good level of drawing... I often think that my inability to draw the scenes I imagined when I was a child is what brought me to writing.

Sometimes, too, a news story, a discussion, or a piece of art will inspire me to do something powerful. Again, taking notes on my phone keeps me from forgetting the ideas I may have in those moments.

Oh, and I can't write without headphones on! Indeed, listening to certain music allows me to be closer to the emotions I want to convey in my texts (sadness, epic feeling, tension, etc.). Besides, we come back to this, these musics are often soundtracks of films or games.",text_a5:"R: In the first few years, when the project was still a mere draft, nothing was really organized. I would write a chapter and then Lai'Suki would give me feedback. Then Nilstilar joined us.

Things changed when you came to me in November 2020 to offer me a partnership. At the time, I was focused on finishing my PhD, and didn't feel like I could handle both projects at once. So I decided to put the novel aside for a while.

Then came August 2021, when all my time could now be devoted to writing the novel. From then on, I wrote one chapter per month. During this period, I was in close contact with the Lore Team, who helped me to deepen my knowledge of the Ryzom universe and who allowed me to modify a certain number of elements to make them "Lore compatible".

More concretely, on a daily basis, I worked from home or in bars. In order to move forward without getting discouraged, I set myself goals in terms of chapters: each of them had to tell its own story. So, even though the mountain of work that remained to be done often seemed enormous, finishing that piece of story was an accomplishment in itself. By the way, all but one have been written in chronological order.

Many times, I would pause the writing of the chapter, and go back to the previous ones to change some of the outlines. If I've learned anything in the last two years, it's that writing is first and foremost a rewriting process! Another potentially notable element was that I would systematically recite my text orally when I was writing it. This allowed me to better define the emotions I wanted to convey, to find the words that sounded best and the most appropriate punctuation.

Once a chapter was finished, I would copy it to a shared document so that Nistilar, who was always by my side, could read it over, correct it, and give me his opinion. After that, I usually had a two-week break during which I thought about the next chapter and took a few days off.

Well... The truth is, there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't think about the book. I could be inspired by anything. Armed with my phone, I took daily notes. Simple ideas ended up in the "Sacred War - ideas" file and more accomplished thoughts in the "Sacred War - plot" file, made up of a succession of chapter summaries.",text_a2:"R: I'm a former French Ryzom player, having started playing in 2009 before the server merge. It is also used as a bridge between the in-game and out of game chats of Ryzom. If a player thinks he knows the identity of the player behind the CSR (or any NDA members of a Ryzom team), he is prohibited from disclosing the information to others and doing so would be cause for sanctions to be applied. (major offense, see B. Warnings and sanctions)

Members of Support are in charge of solving the various problems related to the game (technical, disciplinary, etc.). They must behave with politeness and courtesy at all times. If you nonetheless have a dispute with a CSR, you can submit a complaint, duly documented in a ticket (https://support.ryzom.com), specifying in its title that it is for the attention of the Support team manager. Any unfair complaint against a member of Support may be subject to a sanction.

When a member of Support contacts you, you must follow their instructions and reply with courtesy and politeness. Any breach will be sanctioned according to our procedures for sanctions and escalation policy. (See **B. Warnings and sanctions**)

We remind you that members of Support dedicate their time (both game and real life time) to ensure that everyone can play in a peaceful environment: try to have this in mind when you contact a Team member. This is of course the same for all teams: CSR, dev, event, etc.

The Support Team is subject to strict rules that prohibit them from teaming, exchanging with, duelling with any player, or resurrecting them. These rules also forbid them from using their powers for any purpose other than those defined within the context of their function, under risk of removal of their CSR account, or even their player account. In addition, CSRs are not allowed to process tickets involving their own player guilds or characters.

In accordance with these rules, control tools record all critical commands used by CSRs (as well as members of other teams) and display them internally for real-time control by all. Each connection of a member of Support (and of other teams) is also visible so that everyone can verify that no one has usurped their account.

All decisions taken are collective ones and therefore you may be contacted by several members of Support about the same issue depending on its nature.

## A. Disagreement with another player
In the case of a disagreement with another player, you are expected to try to find to an amicable settlement yourselves. A ticket should be a recourse of last resort; it should only be sent if you are not able to resolve the situation and a third party needs to become involved.

If you have to resort to sending the above-mentioned ticket, it is important to take screenshot(s), depending on the situation, for further reference. **It is essential that the screenshot(s) show(s) the entire in-game screen and has not been changed in any way (censorship or anything else) in order to be considered acceptable.** It has to show clearly the violation that you want to point out. Note that a screenshot showing the open map allows us to see the Atysian date, which is easily transposable to a real date. We also accept videos. If you have any questions, you can contact the team using the ticket system in-game or on https://support.ryzom.com, directly in-game via /tell if a CSR is connected, via Ryzom Chat or lastly via Ryzom Discord.

Note: Any abuse of the ticket system will be documented and sanctioned.

## B. Warnings and sanctions
The Customer Support Team has the right to issue warnings or sanctions depending on the seriousness of an infraction, the reaction of the implicated player towards the Support team, and their in-game history (sanctions and previous warnings). A player might thus be given a reprimand, a warning, a suspension period ranging between 24h and one year, or a permanent ban.

### Penalty scales

#### Minor offence
The penalty scale for a **minor offence** starts with an official warning followed by a 24h suspension, then three days, then one week and up to two weeks. It can be followed or preceded by a mute of increasing duration at the place of the infraction (channels of the game, or Rocket Chat, or forum etc.).
This penalty scale is reset after one year without sanctions.

#### Major offence
The scale of penalties for a **major offence** starts with a week of suspension, then one month, then one year and then permanent banning of the account. It can be followed by a kick off the server if necessary.
This penalty scale is reset after three years without sanctions (except for permanent ban).

#### Critical offence
Critical offence results in a permanent ban of the account after a warning has been notified to the player by e-mail.

**In certain specific cases (highly abusive version of an offence, repeated minor offences...), the support team reserves the right to override the above scales of penalties to decide on a penalty better suited to the seriousness of the facts** (e.g.: minor offence requalified as a major offence).

**Note:** In the case of a heavy and immediate sanction (suspension or permanent banning of an account), as the player in question can no longer be contacted in-game, he or she will be contacted only through e-mail **to the e-mail address filed in his/her personal account**. This is why it is important to enter a valid e-mail address when registering. If the player in question does not receive the email or disputes the sanction, they can contact the support team using the ticket system (https://support.ryzom.com).

### LEGAL NOTICES
The sanctions provided in the Ryzom Code of Conduct shall be assigned as follows:
- Mutes and verbal warnings may be applied by all CSRs.
- Official warnings (by email) may be applied by all CSRs from the GM grade upwards.
- Suspensions may only be applied by CSRs at the SGM level.
- Account bans may only be decided and enforced by Winch Gate Limited.

## C. Rules of the Code of Conduct

### I. Courtesy Rules

#### I.1. Harassment of a player or of a member of a Ryzom Team
**Major/Minor Offence:** *depending on the degree, the Support Team will decide on each case.*

Provocation and harassment, whether verbal or through gameplay actions, are prohibited in-game as well as on Ryzom's chat channels:
46insults, threats of all kinds (under cover of roleplay or not), provocation via emotes or other, but also the chain kill of a character, its campfires or its mektoubs (except during outpost battles), repeated or regular pullovers of mobs on the same character... This list is not exhaustive.
The Support team reserves the right to prepare a file if it deems a case to be proven harassment, as well as to take the decisions that are necessary based on the seriousness of the facts.

#### I.2. Slander or rumour about a Ryzom Team member or Winch Gate
**Major/Minor offence:** *depending on the degree, the Support Team will decide on each case.*

Spreading rumours, false accusations or lies against a member of the Ryzom Team or against Winch Gate, in order to harm them or their reputation or honour, is strictly prohibited.
The Support team reserves the right to make appropriate decisions based on the seriousness of the facts.

#### I.3. Insults, rudeness, disrespect towards a player or a Ryzom Team member
**Minor Offence**

It is strictly prohibited to insult, be rude to, or show lack of respect towards other players, either directly or indirectly, under cover of roleplay or not, and/or in a language that they may or may not understand. Support team has the right to define the seriousness of the exchanged insults and to punish them at its own discretion.

#### I.4. Disobedience of Support member's instructions
**Minor Offence**

When a member of Support contacts you, you must respond as quickly as possible and follow his or her instructions carefully, otherwise you will incur a penalty.

#### I.5. Disturbance of an in-game event
**Minor Offence**

As respect towards the players participating in an event and towards the Event Team that prepared it, players not concerned with this event are asked not to come and disturb the event by using words or actions that are inappropriate or irrelevant. Any abuse may be punished.
If you wish to interact with a scheduled event, please create a ticket via https://support.ryzom.com specifying in its title that it is for the attention of the event team, who will judge the admissibility of your request.

#### I.6. Account sharing
**No Offence**

Sharing a player account is strongly discouraged.
The support team totally disengages itself from any problem resulting from such sharing; logging into the account without the owner's agreement, theft of items belonging to a character on the account or to his guild (whether sold, exchanged or destroyed), change of faction, nation or renown of a character on the account, appropriation of the account by another player, etc.
In case of account sharing, the account owner remains responsible for the words and actions of his characters and therefore incurs a sentence in case of violation of the Code of Conduct.

#### I.7. Bad behavior on a chat channel of the game (Game server, IRC, forums and Rocket chat included)
**Major/Minor Offence:** *depending on the degree, the Support Team will decide on each case.*

**Universe channels are primarily channels of mutual help** (questions-answers about the game, request for help, rez ...). They are also open to any discussion of interest to most of the community. If not, please use the /tell or a private channel. Flooding is therefore moderated there and trolling, spamming (action of repeating or publishing several messages in a row within a few minutes) and flaming are prohibited.
1. Any harassment, threat, or other embarrassing and disquieting act towards another player or member of a Ryzom team is prohibited.
2. Rude, abusive, defamatory, obscene, xenophobic, homophobic and anti-semitic language is prohibited. Similarly, any sexually explicit statement is banned.
3. You may not impersonate any employee of Winch Gate, CSR or any other member of Ryzom teams.
4. You must not violate any laws, whether local, national, European or international.
5. The illegal transfer of documents, files or the like is prohibited via Winch Gate's network of sites.
6. When, in-game or through any other Ryzom service, a CSR member contacts you, you must answer and follow their instructions. \
46n7. You may not use Winch Gate's services for activities other than those permitted in the gaming world.
8. If the information on your profile is false, incomplete or incorrect, you will not be able, in some cases, to benefit from the support provided, because the CSRs could not identify you correctly.
9. You must not communicate any personal data of other players, whether in-game, on the forums of Winch Gate, through IRC or on Rocket Chat.

**Courtesy in the game**

1. You must not violate the Code of Conduct.
2. Any harassment, whatever its form, is prohibited.
3. You must not obstruct another player during their game phases.
4. You must behave respectfully towards other players and the members of Ryzom Team.
5. You must not hide behind a "role" to transgress the rules of Courtesy.

**Forum Rules**

1. You must not violate the Code of Conduct.
2. You must express yourself clearly, act civilly and politely.
3. You must not harass or insult other players, neither any member of a Ryzom Team.
4. Cross-posting (posting the same message several times to attract attention) is prohibited.
5. You are required to report any message that is illegal or violates these rules.
6. Advertising for websites and so forth with no link with Ryzom is prohibited.

### II. Naming Policy
The naming policy defines the rules that govern the choice of the name of your character when it is created. It is established by the support team under the direction of its manager.

#### Name choice
When creating your character, in the final phase you will have to choose a name for him/her. It is advisable to take inspiration from the the Lore to have a character that adheres better to the universe of Atys. If you have no ideas or the names you choose are already taken, you can use the random name generator available at this step. A name that is not Atys-inspired, but nonetheless in accordance with the charter below will be accepted.

#### Name change
At any time, a Support Team Member can contact you and ask you to choose another name if it does not comply with the rules below.

You can request a name change from a Support Member for reasons such as roleplay, wish to abandon a name that is attracting other players' mockery, anonymity... (this list is not exhaustive). Your request must be reasoned and will be validated by the Support Team.

The maximum number of pseudonym changes will depend on the type of your account:
- Free to Play account: 1 allowed name change for each character.
- Premium account: 1 change of name allowed every six months for each character.

#### Naming Policy and penalties for violations
**Note:** If a player creates multiple characters with names that violate the naming policy in the "Very offensive names" section below, they may be subject to the sanctions provided in the Code of Conduct.

##### 1. Very offensive names
*The character is immediately renamed with a default name and an email is sent to the player to inform them of the name change.*

- You may not use coarse, racially or ethnically offensive, obscene, sexual, or drug culture words or phrases as names. You may not use spelling to conceal the use of such names. Your name may not refer to sexual anatomy, nor be an abusive phrase. This prohibition covers any language used in the game.
- You may not use a name chosen to harm, in any way, or impersonate another player, including Winch Gate Property Limited Employees or a Ryzom Team volunteers.

##### 2. Offensive names
*The character is renamed with 24h of delay to allow time for the the player to propose a new name. This for characters created after the publication of the present Naming Policy.*

- You may not use names that are phonetically offensive or would go against the Naming Policy.
- You may not use names of religious, occult or significant historic origin (e.g.: Jesus, Lucifer, Nosferatu)
- You may not use names containing titles such as: Master, King, Queen, Lord, Sir, Mother, God... (this list is not exhaustive).

##### 3. Forbidden names:
*The character is renamed with 3 days of delay to allow time for the the player to propose a new name. This concerns only characters created after the publication of the present Naming Policy.*

- You may not use names that are copyrighted, trademarks or names of materials or products (e.g.: Fujitsu, Whiskey, Tylenol, Toshiba).
- You may not use names of famous people, politicians and popular fictional characters (e.g.: Angelina Jolie, Donald Trump, James Bond.).
You may not use proper nouns of Ryzom (e.g.: Jena, Tryton, Yrkanis, Mabreka).
- You may not use a name which is the reverse spelling of a name in contradiction with the Naming Policy (e.g.: Anej, Notyrt, Sinakry, etc.).
- You may not use easily recognized names that come from another universe such as medieval fantasy or science fiction or others, either fictional or non-fictional, even if hidden by a slightly different spelling (e.g.: Skywolker, Gondalf, Flintstains, Obywan) .
- You may not use common words or phrases not pertaining to the Ryzom universe, as names (e.g.: cell phone, microwave, truck).

#### Characteristics of Guild Names
For the most part, guild names must comply with all the rules of names and are subject to the same rules as character names in terms of renaming, depending on whether the elements that make up the name of the guild are very offensive, offensive or just forbidden.
There are, however, several exceptions:
- The name of a guild can use the proper noun of places on Atys in order to facilitate the roleplay (e.g.: The Protectors of Fairhaven).
- The name of a guild can have in its title, for roleplay purposes, the name of a character of the Lore if the whole does not break any point of the Naming Policy and is consistent with the Lore. So, "The children of Elias", "The disciples of Mabreka" conform to the charter of names, but "The Jar of Tryton" does not.

#### Characteristics of pets names:
The animals belonging to player's character (mount, packers, zigs) must be named according to the Naming Policy, except the one related to the proper names of Ryzom. The
46se animals are subject to the same rules as character names in terms of renaming, depending on whether the elements that make up the name of the animal are very offensive, offensive or simply forbidden.

If you think that a pet's name is inappropriate, disturbing, or incompatible with the game, you can report it to the Support team by ticket or directly in game by contacting a member of the Support Team (the list of CSRs in-game at the moment is displayed under the SYSTEM INFO tab of the chat window when you type /who gm).

### III. Game Integrity Infringement

#### 1. Servers data hacked, decrypted or assimilated
**Critical Offence**

Changing the client or its means of communicating with the server in order to obtain an advantage is strictly prohibited and is punishable by a permanent ban.

#### 2. Account Piracy
**Critical Offence**

The taking over by a player of a Ryzom account that does not belong to him, regardless of the computer means used, is strictly forbidden and is subject to a definitive ban, except if it is done with the explicit agreement of its owner (for example to solve a technical problem via screen sharing) or if the owner has shared their login and password with this person (see** I.6.**).

#### 3. Utilization of a bot (*)
**Major Offence**

(*) *Using a third-party program to play through scripted actions.*

Using macros which are not part of Ryzom's integrated macro system in order to make your character partly or completely independent of your direct control is strictly prohibited.

Control of several characters by the use of a third-party program is strictly prohibited. If, during a check, the Support Team is not able to discern whether a player is abusing this rule, the player will have to provide the proof that they are not using any third-party software to control several characters at the same time.

#### 4. Use of VPN/proxy
Connection to the game server is not allowed via VPN/proxy to avoid abuse. A justified request to make an exception for an account can be made to the Support Team.

#### 5. Multiboxing

##### 5.1- General rule for multiboxing

Multiboxing (playing several characters at the same time, without the help of third-party software) is limited to two accounts connected simultaneously during outpost battles, PvP, boss hunts, marauder boss attacks and Storyline scripted events (see **III.5.2**) and tolerated up to four accounts for other activities.

When a player plays several characters simultaneously (multiboxing), there should be no doubt for an observer that they are controlled manually one after the other and not by a bot. In case of doubt, the observer is invited to send to the Support Team a video/videos showing the characters acting in an apparently synchronized way. The Support Team will then decide if this constitutes a breach of this Code of Conduct and, if so, whether it is the work of a possible bot (see **III.3**) or if it is a breach of this paragraph. In the latter case, the accounts concerned will be subject to a simultaneous connection restriction (inability to connect two or more accounts simultaneously).

##### 5.2- Multiboxing during outpost battles, PvP, boss hunts, marauder boss attacks and Storyline scripted events
**Major Offence**

Multiboxing is limited to two accounts connected simultaneously during outpost battles, PvP, boss hunts, marauder boss attacks and Storyline scripted events. If you suspect abuse, please send as many screenshot(s) or video(s) required to show the violation to the Support Team.

##### 5.3- Multiboxing for more than 4 characters
**Major Offence**

The number of accounts connected at the same time is limited to four.
However, Customer Support may make exceptions in individual cases (such as a large family, public computer etc). If you believe you should be granted such an exception, please create a ticket via https://support.ryzom.com, stating the reason for your request and the logins of all affected accounts.

#### 5.4 Multiboxing during off-peak hours

Multiboxing is tolerated for up to four simultaneous accounts for all activities except PvP and outpost battles during the hours when it is a gameplay necessity due to low game server traffic (22h-10h UTC, i.e. 0h-12h CEST).

#### Summary on multiboxing

*At times when the game server is sufficiently busy - 10:00 UTC-22:00 UTC (12:00 CEST-00:00 CEST):*
* Multiboxing limited to 2 simultaneous accounts during:
* PvP
* Outpost battles
* Bosses hunts
* Marauders boss attacks
* Storyline scripted events
* Multiboxing tolerated to 4 simultaneous accounts for other activities.

*At times of low game server traffic - 22:00 UTC-10:00 UTC (00:00 CEST-12:00 CEST):*
* Multiboxing limited to 2 simultaneous accounts during:
* PvP
* Outpost battles
* Multiboxing allowed up to 4 simultaneous accounts for other activities.

#### 6. Exploit
**Critical, Major or Minor Offence, depending upon the case**

The concept of exploit covers any use of a third-party program, a client modification or recompilation or (ab)use of a bug to gain an advantage over the other players.

Exploits are forbidden and punishable by the Customer Support Team, which has the right to decide the severity of the noticed exploit. On this
46subject, repeated offences are an aggravating factor.

The discovery of a security vulnerability or exploitable bug is not a violation of the Code of Conduct provided that it is immediately reported to the Support Team via ticket (https://support.ryzom.com). It is therefore not subject to sanction, provided that the use of the vulnerability or bug in question is discontinued after its discovery.

**If you suspect the use of an exploit, you must contact us using one of the means mentioned above.**

#### 7. Aggro dragging, except at outpost battles
**Minor Offence**

Intentionally dragging one or several mobs towards another player in order to kill or harass them is prohibited. If a player sees or is informed that he has unintentionally committed aggro dragging, they must apologize and do their best to resurrect the concerned characters, if required.

If you become victim of intentional aggro dragging and can prove it (for instance with a screenshot of a tell showing that, when they were contacted by you, or the person dragging not showing any sign of remorse and no will to come back to revive you), you can contact the Support Team through one of ways mentioned above. We will then open a file and act accordingly. Here again, repeated offenses will be taken into consideration.

Only aggro dragging during an outpost battle is tolerated when done by the attackers and defenders (see **III.10**).

#### 8. Kill stealing
**Minor Offence**

Killing a mob which is already being attacked by another player or group of players, is considered as kill stealing and is prohibited.

If, after trying to resolve the situation between the parties involved, no solution is found, you may contact the Support Team through the means mentioned above. However, before contacting any CSR, first try to communicate with the player(s) involved and resolve it yourself!

In the case of a Boss, a Named mob a Marauder Boss, please refer to the following paragraph.

#### 9. Rules regarding Bosses, Marauder Bosses and Named mobs
**Minor Offence**

##### a) Theft of Bosses, Marauder Bosses or Named

A Boss, Marauder Boss or Named belongs to the first team that has locked it, as long as the lock is active. (See https://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/27212 for more information.)
A second team may assume the Boss, Marauder Boss or Named only if it is not yet locked or it is unlocked. To do this, it can exclusively:
- Fight the first team in PvP;
- Take advantage of the departure of the first team, which automatically unlocks the mob. Note that if there is only one character left alive or present in the team that has locked mob, it will be unlocked. Aggro dragging aimed at weakening the other team is prohibited and is therefore punishable (see **III.7**).

A Boss, Named or Marauder Boss is considered free as long as it is not locked by any team.

The pull of Boss, of Marauder Boss or of Named by a single person, that is to say without team, is possible but insufficient to cause the locking. To re-acquire the Boss, Marauder Boss or Named in this case is not considered to be kill-stealing.

##### b) Camping of Boss or Named spots

Camping of Boss or Named spots is not regulated because it is often impossible to prove.

#### 10. Disrespect of the PvP rules
**Minor Offence**

In Ryzom, PvP is at all times consensual. Activating your PvP tag, entering a PvP zone or engaging in an outpost battle implies that you accept the consequences. To put it simply, if you do not want to take part in PvP action, then it is your responsibility to not activate your tag and to not enter PvP zones.

##### a) PvP Faction

A player who activates their PvP tag accepts the consequences, whatever the circumstances. E.g.: being killed while foraging, at the stables, while afk, at a respawn point near a portal.

If, despite your tag, you wish to avoid the fight, you can wait for detagging to occur, hide, use a teleporter pact, change place or region, etc.

##### b) PvP Areas

The player who enters a PvP area accepts the consequences, whatever the circumstances. However, as a specific exception, killings at respawn points near portals is prohibited and punishable if proven. If you are tagged PvP area and you are killed at a portal's respawn point, you can contact the Support Team through one of the ways described above. In this case, it is strongly recommended that you add a screenshot(s) to support your claim (please ensure that the SYSTEM INFO window is visible in the screenshot(s)).

##### c) Outpost PvP battles

The player who enters an Outpost battle area and chooses a side, accepts the consequences, whatever the circumstances. However, as a specific exception, kills at respawn points near a portal are prohibited and punished if proven. If you OP-battle tagged and you are killed at a portal or a respawn point, you can contact the Support Team through one of the ways described above. In this case, it is strongly recommended that you include a screenshot(s) to support your claim. Untagged characters present at an OP battle may be removed by a CSR on demand as they distort the targeting of the protagonists. If, despite your tag, you wish to avoid the fight, you can wait for detagging to occur, hide, use a teleporter pact, change place or region, etc.

##### Rules regarding outposts battles

a) CSRs will, as a general rule, not be present at outpost battles. However, if you notice a violation of the rules of decency and behaviour, you can immediately contact the Support team.

b) If you got stuck in the landscape in a region where an outpost battle is taking place, first try to teleport elsewhere. If you don't succeed, you must contact the Support Team, describing your situation. A CSR will then help to free you.

c) Everything that falls under the normal mechanics of the game is allowed in combat zones, provided that all those involved are tagged for PvP.
1. A Mektoub packer might die. By bringing it into a combat zone, you are exposing it to risks.
2. Spawn camping is almost impossible because of the security zone around the respawn points, and is thus allowed. If you die and your enemies are near your respawn point, you will have either to wait for regeneration in the safe zone or to choose another respawn point/Teleportation pact to rejoin the battle.
3. During outpost battles, using aggro dragging and killing yelks near the fight is a valid and allowed game strategy but only for the attackers and defenders.

d) Outpost Blocking
Declaring war on your own OP(s), on one of your allies, or having your allies declare war on your OP(s) in order to prevent someone else declaring war on it, is considered an exploit and is prohibited. The transfer of ownership of an OP from one guild to another is allowed; raising the threshold during the transfer is forbidden, as is the handing over of the OP multiple times in a row, this being considered as blocking the OP.

e) Repetition of false declarations of war on an OP owned by a player guild
Repeated false declarations of war on an OP owned by a player guild, e.g. not followed by a real attack of the guild or its allies or with too few combatants to be able to raise the threshold against the NPCs alone, are considered harassment.
If you think your guild could be charged with this offence, take a screenshot(s) showing all the players present on the outpost during the attack to send it to the support team if necessary.
Please note that this rule does not apply to counter-attacks (attacks launched to counter an outpost attack) nor to the outposts owned by an hostile tribe.

### IV. Inappropriate Advertising

#### 1. Gold selling
**Critical Offence**

Gold sellers have nothing to do with the game and its environment. Thus, they are strictly forbidden. The guilty player will immediately be kicked and banned.

#### 2. Advertising of a product or a website unrelated to Ryzom
**Major/Minor Offence:** *depending on the type of advertising, the Support team will examine all cases individually.*

Advertising for websites not related to Ryzom and its environment is prohibited. The guilty player will immediately be muted and sanctioned as appropriate.
The support team will review each violation and decide on the sanction depending on the nature of the advertisement published.

### V. General Fraud

#### 1. Impersonating a member of a Ryzom Team or Winch Gate
**Major Offence**

It is strictly forbidden to pretend to be a member of the game teams or Winch Gate, whether in-game, on the forum of Ryzom, on Ryzom Discord, Ryzom Chat or elsewhere on the web.

#### 2. Attempting to deceive a Ryzom Team member
**Major Offence if the player gets a benefit, otherwise Minor offence**

Attempting to deceive a member of the Ryzom Team, either in order to retrieve items already won (e. g.: event reward, mission item, Boss' loot, Marauder Bossâ piece or plan...), or for any other purpose is strictly forbidden. Any player convicted of this transgression will be punished in accordance with paragraph **B. Warnings and sanctions**.

#### 3. Impersonating another player
**Minor Offence**

It is forbidden to impersonate another player in any way (including pretending to be their alt and speaking on their behalf).

#### 4. Claiming a special relationship with a member of a Ryzom Team
**Minor Offence**

It is strictly forbidden to pretend to have a privileged relationship with a member of the Ryzom team, whether to harm them, to make oneself look good to other players, to try to influence others, or for some other reason. The members of the Ryzom team who are subject to a non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) have their personal and player identities preserved. In addition, each Ryzom Team member under NDA follows an internal
46code of conduct that prohibits them from favoring one player over another.

**Note**: If such a relationship proves to be true, the player and the member under NDA would be subject to the sanctions provided by their respective codes of conduct and internal rules.

## Legend of abbreviations
- CSR - Customer Support Representative
- (S)GM - (Senior) Game Master
- NDA - Non Disclosure Agreement
- Dev - Developer
- PvP - Player(s) vs. Player(s)
- GvG - Guild(s) vs. Guild(s)
- FvF - Faction(s) vs. Faction(s)
- PvE - Player(s) vs Environment (NPCs, Mobs, ...)
- GvE - Guild vs Environment (NPCs, Mobs, ...)
- FvE Faction vs Environment (NPCs, Mobs, ...)
- NPC(s) - Non Player Character(s)
- OP(s) - Outpost(s)"},notFound:{link:"back to HOME",text:"The page you are trying to visit does not exist.",title:"Content not available"},account:{forums:c,logout:"Logout",welcome:"Welcome",webig:n,billing:"Account / Subscription"},card:{playFree:{systemRequirements:v,premium:{before:"You can also opt-in for a paid",link:"premium account",after:"to benefit even more!"},otherPlatformsBeta:"RyZtart installer/launcher (beta)",otherPlatforms:"Other platforms",text:"Sign up, download the game and hop right into the experience!",otherPlatformsOld:"Old Installer",title:"Play Free Now!"},returning:{button:"Getting Back in the Game",getGoing:"Now get going, your friends are waiting for you!",bold:"Long time no see?
It's good to have you back!",text:"We've prepared some help to get you started again.",title:"Returning to Ryzom?"}},events:{noEvents:"There are currently no events to show.
