forces with Rambert School and The Juilliard School, in a yearlong transatlantic partnership that will culminate in the creation of a bold new work choreographed by Wayne McGregor. This unique initiative offers students an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate across cultures, continents, and choreographic traditions with one of the worldâs most influential creative voices.

Premiering in London in 2026, the new work will be performed by thirty four outstanding students from these two world-leading institutions. More than a performance, this ambitious collaboration seeks to innovate choreographic practice while inspiring, developing, and empowering the next generation of exceptional dance artists.

Structured across three distinctive phases, the project ensures deep artistic engagement. In Phase One, Juilliard and Rambert School students will each work independently with Studio Wayne McGregor to create original stand-alone works. These will be shared with audie
120nces as part of Juilliardâs celebrated New Dances: Edition 2025 in December, and in Rambert Schoolâs PRE[VIEW] performances in March 2026.

The project will culminate in Phase Three with McGregorâs brand-new cross-institutional work; AUGMENTED: Dance powered by MAM + AISOMA, bringing together students from both schools in an unprecedented artistic exchange presented at Sadlerâs Wells East in London in May 2026. Designed to push the boundaries of contemporary dance, this collaboration marks a landmark moment in cultivating global creative partnerships and shaping the choreographic innovators of tomorrow.

Rambert School image by Jack Thomson
The Juilliard School image by Paula Lobo

Share:

Facebook

Twitter

Email

STUDIO WAYNE MCGREGOR ANNOUNCES 2025 RESIDENT 6 ARTISTS

06.05.2025

Studio Wayne McGregor welcomes the 2025 RESIDENT 6 cohort â emerging artists whose practises radically push the boundaries of dance, movement and physical intelligence.

STUDIO WAYNE MCGREGOR ANNOUNCES 2025 RESIDENT 6 ARTISTS

06.05.2025

Studio Wayne McGregor welcomes the 2025 RESIDENT 6 cohort â emerging artists whose practises radically push the boundaries of dance, movement and physical intelligence.

The 2025 RESIDENT 6 artists are:

Lewis Walker
Lewis Walker is a London-born, queer, non-binary choreographer, gymnast, dancer, and teacher working at the intersection of high-level technique and performance. A former World Champion acrobatic gymnast and Team GB athlete, they explore identity, transformation, and resistance through movement, viewing queerness as a state of constant evolution. They choreograph across theatre, music, and fashion and are currently commissioned by Serpentine to create Bornsick, a gymnastics-dance solo. Their teaching practice, influenced by psychoanalysis, sobriety, rave, and holistic dance, includes MOVE HYPNO, a collaboration with hypnotherapist Michele Occelli that merges hypnotherapy and movement to foster self-expression and healing.

Charnjeev Kang
Written on Words by Charnjeev Kang, is a studio that weaves together drawing, architecture, film, performance, geometry, creative robotics, and collaboration, in order to create new tools that help the studio formulate questions to explore the worlds of neurology, the nature of memory, empire, male intimacy and metaphysics. These questions do not offer simple resolutions but instead create a framework for the navigating and cultivation of complexity and ambiguity to feed the studios multi-disciplinary works of art.

Sadé & Kristina Alleyne
Award-winning Alleyne Dance is a unique and powerful company that blends Caribbean, Hip Hop, and Kathak within a contemporary dance context. The choreographic language focuses on rhythms and textures with movement that is athletic, fast paced and dynamic, with infusions of lyrical and fluid motion. Founded in 2014 by award-winning sisters, Kristina and Sadé Alleyne, the company strives for high quality and excellence in our three main objectives Performance Participation & Development. Alleyne Dance have five main productions: stage productions, outdoor performances, film and receives professional commissions. Accolades include Best Independent Company at the National Dance Awards and recognition as Black Female Icons of Lewisham by Brockley Max and The Mayor of London.

Irini Kalaitzidi

Irini is a dance artist and researcher. Her practice revolves around choreography and machine learning, exploring critical and caring ways of engaging with the human body. Through qualities of speculation and playfulness, she investigates how diï¬erent technologies shape our understanding of the body—its capacities, vulnerabilities, and limitations. Her works vary from performances to
120screen-based projects, writings and choreographic scores and have been presented in venues such as Onassis Stegi, Somerset House, The V&A, Stanley Picker Gallery, and Cairo Citadel. An Onassis AiR Fellow for 2023-24, Irini is also a PhD researcher and lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, teaching machine learning for artistic practice, and introducing choreography as hacking.

Georgia Tegou & Kristina Pulejkova

Georgia and Kristina have been working together since 2017 creating interdisciplinary work that uses dance, holographic imagery, live projection mapping, immersive 360 video, and most recently VR and XR. Kristina Pulejkova is a visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice is informed by science and technology. Her work explores how the use of technology might lead to greater forms of sustainability in human-nature relationships. Choreographer and stage director, Georgia Tegouâs work approaches 'Dance-as-design', intertwining choreography with design to create immersive visual environments. Drawing inspiration from architecture, sculpture, visual arts, science and philosophy her work explores the symbiotic relationship between dance and spatial arts, seeking to encapsulate nuances of the human condition.

Liam Francis

Liam Francis is an international dance artist working across dance, theatre, film, and television. He began his career with ZooNation Dance Company (2009â2014) before becoming a leading dancer with Rambert (2014â2021), performing works by Bruce, Cherkaoui, Cunningham, Duke, Eyal, McGregor, and Shechter. In our inaugural RESIDENT 6 programme, all of us at Studio Wayne McGregor will be there for these six exceptional artistic teams. They have been selected for their force of ideas, passion of purpose and sheer determination to make change. We feel lucky to have them call SWM home.â
- Wayne McGregor CBE

The 2024 RESIDENT 6 artists are:

BULLYACHE
BULLYACHE is a genre-bending dance theatre and music duo that explores working class and queer identity in relation to pop culture, creating reconstructions of classical texts through dance theatre, live music, visual art and film. They were established at the end of the pandemic as a collaboration between friends and artists Courtney and Jacob. They make working class, queer reconstructions of classical texts through the lens of a pop music video. BULLYACHEâs work uses dance theatre, live music and film. BULLYACHE have presented their work TOM at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a part of Horizon Showcase. TOM is a vertigo-inducing pop-culture collision of working class and queer expression. With original live music and dance, TOM oscillates between hyper-speed pop, ambient waves, and auto-tune vocals. TOM is an example of BULLYACHEâs signature brand of genre-bending artistry, music, dance, and visual art.

dkfash
dkfash is an interdisciplinary artist working across stage, film and entertainment. Her instinctual practice explores storytelling; through text, physical theatre, chorus, surrealism, and collaborative devising. Work Includes Is Dat U Yh (Brixton House), Fragments Of A Complicated Mind (Theatre 503), Eclipse Award 20-21 and Scalped (Without Walls). She's worked with Royal Shakespeare Company, Bush Theatre, National Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Royal Exchange Manchester, Sheffield Theatres, Big Freedia & Wizkid (Zinarts).

Rebecca Evans
Rebecca Evans has made innovative and pioneering digital dance experiences since 2014, in the UK and abroad. Her work uses interactive and immersive technologies combined with dance to create dystopian/utopian worlds that play with time underpinned by a neurodiverse perspective considering different intelligences and ways of sensing. Rebecca has a continued professional practice in contemporary dance and more recently completed an MA in Virtual and Extended Realities from UWE Bristol. Commissions of her work have included 2Faced Dance, Wiltonâs Music Hall, Athens Digital Arts Festival, Bedford Creative Arts, DanceEast and London Borough of Culture. As part of Resident 6, Rebecca will explore how digital and movement offers ways to appreciate our mutual dependency as part of a human, environmental and technological ecology, speculating on new futures and ways of being. She will do this through the further development of mixed reality headset work HINTERLANDS, as well as exploring the potential of AI to mediate the intersection of physical and digital motion, and developing processes for dance practitioners and creative technologists to collaborate.

Rowdy SS<del></del>
Rowdy SS is a London-born and based multi-disciplinary artist.
