The gallery maintains a roster of established and emerging artists, predominantly focused on painting, but with an emphasis on sculpture and photography as well.</p><p>Nino Mier opened his first gallery in 2015, following a successful c
183areer as a private dealer and art advisor. Driven by a desire to work more closely with artists and foster their growth, Mier launched a 500-square-foot space in West Hollywood. His vision was to challenge the established norms of the Los Angeles art scene and introduce artists who were largely unknown in the city at the time. </p><p>The inaugural exhibition featured Jan-Ole Schiemann, a promising young artist who, like Jana Schröder, Andreas Breunig, and Thomas Wachholz, studied at the renowned Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. These early exhibitions set the tone for the gallery, which quickly became known for showcasing emerging talent and artists with strong conceptual practices. Following the success of Schiemann’s debut, Mier continued to expand the gallery’s roster, adding artists such as Anke Weyer and André Butzer.</p></div></div></div></div></div><div class="text-two-columns text-or-image-two-columns banner-image"><div class="container"><div class="content paragraph-styling"><div class="left"></div><div class="right"></div></div></div></div><div class="text-two-columns text-or-image-two-columns"><div class="container"><div class="content paragraph-styling"><div class="left"><div class="image"><img alt="" itemprop="image" 184 src="https://static-assets.artlogic.net/w_1800,h_1800,c_limit/exhibit-e/5da4b461a5aa2c47128b4567/aac4d9ee152cc93451bef5c18aa63393.jpeg" 185 ><div class="caption"><p>Installation view of Jonathan Wateridge: Aftersun (April 26-June 18, 2022) at Nino Mier Gallery, Brussels</p></div></div></div><div class="right"><div class="image"><img itemprop="image" alt="" 186 src="https://static-assets.artlogic.net/w_1800,h_1800,c_limit/exhibit-e/5da4b461a5aa2c47128b4567/6e48397f92b403156fb26885023c1980.jpeg" 187 ><div class="caption"></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="text-two-columns text-or-image-two-columns"><div class="container"><div class="content paragraph-styling"><div class="left"><div class="container"><p>As the gallery grew, so did its influence. Mier continued his expansions in Europe with the opening of a gallery in Brussels, consolidating two spaces into one. The historic red-brick townhouse also boasts a stunning 150-square-meter sculpture garden, providing a unique backdrop for exhibitions. Its first exhibition, which ran in early 2021, was a group presentation of works by thirty artists, including Ethan Cook, Anna Fasshauer, Kareem-Anthony Ferreira, Georg Karl Pfahler, and Cindy Phenix, among many others. The second annex space was inaugurated with a show of new paintings by Jake Longstreth, introducing the accomplished California-based artist to a broader European public.</p></div></div><div class="right"><div class="container"><p>In January 2023, Mier opened a gallery in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, a 4,500 square-foot, ground-floor space designed by architect Markus Dochantschi of StudioMDA that marked Nino Mier Gallery’s New York debut. The SoHo gallery, a large and versatile exhibition space with high ceilings and iron columns original to the building, allowed Nino Mier Gallery to expand the scope of its exhibitions and to provide new opportunities to present a wider breadth of the gallery’s artists to different audiences. The gallery continues to focus on its program of painting, photography, and sculpture, while also having the space to feature larger-scale installations. In May 2023, Mier inaugurated his second New York space in the TriBeCa neighborhood with a solo exhibition of new photographs and sculptures by Finnish artist Iiu Susiraja.</p></div></div></div></div></div><div class="text-two-columns text-or-image-two-columns large-image"><div class="container"><div class="content paragraph-styling"><div class="left"></div><div class="right"><div class="image"><img itemprop="image" alt="" 188 src="https://static-assets.artlogic.net/w_1800,h_1800,c_limit/exhibit-e/5da4b461a5aa2c47128b4567/5d80488d2ceddbeb171791f66ff657e1.jpeg" 189 ><div class="caption"></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="text-two-columns text-or-image-two-columns"><div class="container"><div class="content paragraph-styling"><div class="left"><div class="image"><img alt="3" itemprop="image" 190 src="https://static-assets.artlogic.net/w_1800,h_1800,c_limit/exhibit-e/5da4b461a5aa2c47128b4567/a70ae91ebf33958e9a0d255813713e45.jpeg" 191 ><div class="caption"><p>Installation view of Stefan Rinck: <em>Early Birds and Late Night Lizards (</em>November 4-December 16, 2023) at Nino Mier Gallery, Tribeca<br /> 192 </p></div></div></div><div class="right"><div class="container"><p>Committed to finding and representing artists who have not yet found the platform they deserve, Mier has been instrumental in launching the careers of a number of young artists and creating global recognition for them over the course of just a few years. The gallery now represents artists from around the world, including the Estate of Georg Karl Pfahler, Jorge Galindo, Seyni Awa Camara, Joanne Greenbaum, Tony Matelli, and Nicola Tyson.
