I read while travelling, in my idle time, in between long simulations, when I need a break from research. I think I would not be able to survive my PhD without books. So this section is dedicated to my enjoyment of reading. I write short reflections and reviews on books I enjoy but I know it is not as frequent as I wish it to be; a curated list is here:</p> <div class=carousel-wrapper > <button class="carousel-btn prev" onclick="moveReadingCarousel(-1)">&#8592;</button> <div class=carousel-track-outer > <div class=carousel-track id=readingCarouselTrack > <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/2026/hailmary/" class=carousel-link > <img src="/Blog/2026/images/PHM_optim.png" class=carousel-img alt="Project Hail Mary"> <div class=carousel-title >Project Hail Mary</div> <div class=carousel-desc >When stars get sick, astro-epidemiological model: Project Hail Mary a Sci-Fi book review</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/2025WrapUp/" class=carousel-link > <img src="/Blog/bookreviews/images/storygraph-wrap-up-2025.png" class=carousel-img alt="Reading Wrap Up 2025"> <div class=carousel-title >Reading Wrap Up 2025</div> <div class=carousel-desc >33 books, 10,059 pages across a busy PhD year</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/2024WrapUp/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >Reading Wrap Up 2024</div> <div class=carousel-desc >32 books and the year reading became a habit</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/Kindred/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >Kindred — Octavia Butler</div> <div class=carousel-desc >A haunting masterpiece on slavery and time travel</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/BalladOfSongbirds/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes</div> <div class=carousel-desc >The Hunger Games prequel — a villain's origin story</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/AThousandSplendidSuns/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >A Thousand Splendid Suns</div> <div class=carousel-desc >Khaled Hosseini's devastating story of two Afghan women</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/SleepingMurder/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >Sleeping Murder — Agatha Christie</div> <div class=carousel-desc >Miss Marple's last case and one of Christie's finest</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/EndlessNight/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >Endless Night — Agatha Christie</div> <div class=carousel-desc >Christie's darkest and most psychological thriller</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/February24Books/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >February 2024 Reviews</div> <div class=carousel-desc >The Secret Adversary, Midnight Library and The Big Four</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/March24Books/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >March 2024 Reviews</div> <div class=carousel-desc >The Forever War, Seven Dials Mystery, Before Coffee Gets Cold</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/April_July24Books/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >April–July 2024 Reviews</div> <div class=carousel-desc >Pride and Prejudice, Brazen, White Nights and more</div> </a> </div> <div class=carousel-item > <a href="/Blog/bookreviews/books/" class=carousel-link > <div class=carousel-title >All Books Read</div> <div class=carousel-desc >Full list of every book tracked since I started reading logs</div> </a> </div> </div> </div> <button class="carousel-btn next" onclick="moveReadingCarousel(1)">&#8594;</button> </div>
