Yet, despite the recent 68 increase in research into visualization literacy by the education and visualization communities, we lack 69 practical and time-effective instruments for the widespread measurements of people's comprehension and 70 interpretation of visual designs. We present Mini-VLAT, a brief but practical visualization literacy test. 71 The Mini-VLAT is a 12-item short form of the 53-item Visualization Literacy Assessment Test (VLAT). The 72 Mini-VLAT is reliable (coefficient omega = 0.72) and strongly correlates with the VLAT. Five visualization 73 experts validated the Mini-VLAT items, yielding an average content validity ratio (CVR) of 0.6. We further 74 validate Mini-VLAT by demonstrating a strong positive correlation between study participants' Mini-VLAT 75 scores and their aptitude for learning an unfamiliar visualization using a Parallel Coordinate Plot test. 76 Overall, the Mini-VLAT items showed a similar pattern of validity and reliability as the 53-item VLAT. The 77 results show that Mini-VLAT is a psychometrically sound and practical short measure of visualization 78 literacy. 79 </p> 80 </div> 81 82 <div class="container-fluid buttons"> 83 <a class="button" href="https://tools.visualdata.wustl.edu/experiment/" target="_blank">Test (Online)</a> 84 <a class="button" href="Mini_VLAT_V2.pdf" target="_blank">Test (PDF)</a> 85 <a class="button" href='Mini-VLAT_EuroVIS.pdf' target="_blank">Manuscript</a> 86 </div> 87 88 89 <div class="container-fluid h-100 d-flex flex-column"> 90 91 <div class="container"> 92 <div class="row"> 93 <div class="col-sm"> 94 <img src="./charts/treemap.png" style="width:100%"> 95 <p class="text-center"> Treemap </p> 96 <img src="./charts/area.png" style="width:100%"> 97 <p class="text-center"> Area Chart </p> 98 <img src="./charts/scatterplot.png" style="width:100%"> 99 <p class="text-center"> Scatterplot </p> 100 </div> 101 <div class="col-sm"> 102 <img src="./charts/pie.png" style="width:100%"> 103 <p class="text-center"> Pie Chart </p> 104 <img src="./charts/bubble.png" style="width:100%"> 105 <p class="text-center"> Bubble Chart </p> 106 <img src="./charts/100stackedbar.png" style="width:100%"> 107 <p class="text-center"> 100% Stacked Bar Chart </p> 108 </div> 109 <div class="col-sm"> 110 <img src="./charts/map.png" style="width:100%"> 111 <p class="text-center"> Choropleth Map </p> 112 <img src="./charts/stackedarea.png" style="width:100%"> 113 <p class="text-center">
