Previously, I completed my PhD at <a href="https://www.cam.ac.u

My work combines <strong>theoretical rigor with practical performance</strong>, while emphasizing <strong>robustness and interpretability</strong> in settings where black-box models fall short. </p> <p> I am currently <strong>on the academic job market</strong> for faculty positions in mathematics, applied mathematics, and related interdisciplinary areas. </p> <p> Beyond research, I enjoy teaching mathematics at UCLA, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations. I am also an avid hiker, swimmer, sailor, skier and snowboarder, and a classics and poetry enthusiast. </p> 90 </div> 91 92 </div> 93 94 </div> 95 <hr /> 96 <div class="row"> 97 <div class="col"> 98 <a class="pr-3 no-break" href="mailto:[email protected]"> 99 <i class="fas fa-at"></i> <span class="email-text">wdiepeveen(at)math.ucla.edu</span> 100 </a> 101 102 <a class="pr-3 no-break" target="_blank" href="https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=zrYUbhQAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao"> 103 <i class="fab fa-google-scholar"></i> Google Scholar 104 </a> 105 106 107 108 <a class="pr-3 no-break" target="_blank" href="https://github.com/wdiepeveen"> 109 <i class="fab fa-github"></i> GitHub 110 </a> 111 112 113 114 115 116 <a class="pr-3 no-break" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/WillemDiepev1"> 117 <i class="fab fa-twitter"></i> Twitter 118 </a> 119 120 121 122 123 124 <a class="pr-3 no-break" target="_blank" href="/assets/files/Academic_CV_Willem_Diepeveen.pdf"> 125 <i class="fas fa-file-alt"></i> CV 126 </a> 127 128 129 130 </div> 131 </div> 132 </div> 133 </div> 134 </div> 135</div> 136 137 138 139 140 141 <div class="row mt-3"> 142 <div class="col"> 143 <div class="card border-0 shadow-sm bg-white"> 144 <div class="card-body p-4"> 145 <div class="row" data-masonry='{"percentPosition": true }'> 146 147 <div class="col-md-6"> 148 <div class="mx-2 my-1"> 149 <h6>Education</h6> 150 <ul class="list-unstyled mb-1"> 151 152 <li class="media mb-1"> 153 <img src="/assets/images/badges/Cambridge-logo.png" alt="University of Cambridge" style="width: 18px;" class="mr-1 mt-1"> 154 <div class="media-body"> 155 <div>University of Cambridge</div> 156 <div class="small"></div> 157 <div class="small d-flex"> 158 <div>PhD Mathematics <br/> Thesis: Riemannian Geometry for Inverse Problems in Cryogenic Electron Microscopy <br/> Advisor: Carola-Bibiane Schönlieb 159</div> 160 <div class="mt-auto ml-auto no-break"><em>Oct 2020 â Jun 2024</em></div> 161 </div> 162 </div> 163 </li> 164 165 <li class="media mb-1"> 166 <img src="/assets/images/badges/TUBerlin-logo.png" alt="TU Delft & TU Berlin (double degree)" style="width: 18px;" class="mr-1 mt-1"> 167 <div class="media-body"> 168 <div>TU Delft & TU Berlin (double degree)</div> 169 <div class="small"></div> 170 <div class="small d-flex"> 171 <div>MSc Applied Mathematics & MSc Scientific Computing 172</div> 173 <div class="mt-auto ml-auto no-break"><em>Sep 2018 â Sep 2020</em></div> 174 </div> 175 </div> 176 </li> 177 178 <li class="media mb-1"> 179 <img src="/assets/images/badges/TUDelft-logo-2.png" alt="TU Delft
