I find the teeth and remove them from the skull, they are so beautiful. I’m looking at a dead tree in the water whose branches extend in ways like a sea creature. As I move away from the skeleton the teeth start to bite me, it doesn’t want to be separated from its body.

I’m in a house on a property halfway between life and death. I know I’m alive because the days pass between day and night, but something is off, it’s liminal. There’s a woman living in the house on the property who is dead but seems alive, a strange spell. I’m with a young man who is my friend or partner, I am not sure. There’s a third young woman but she is more suspicious to me. I remember a small cat just outside the house.

It’s summer and things feel weird.
The ocean is so prominent.
Dad is going to die but I don’t know when, from a seizure after getting sunburnt. I’m holding it up to the light and see the skeleton of a small bird or reptile like creature. It’s glowing. I am comparing it to another version that has already been finished, it was soaking for much longer in a different chemical. The egg cracks at the central membrane hinge and I remove the dead animal, holding the bones in my hand. After it has been out of the chemical for a moment, the skull is larger because it has expanded with the air. I am washing it in a pool of water, trying to remove all the sediment from the brain cavity.

Dead dog in pieces in Lasqueti pond.
Someone lifts its head and it coughs up water.
My drawing book got wet.

There is a farm that is living and dead at the same time;
It is lifeless and grim even though plants grow.
Across the water is a cityscape of some sort.
(Earlier in the night I was arranging different objects to look like this too.) In the dining room with big windows Mum and Lauren and Sol and Becca are sitting around the table. I’m sitting on the floor looking out the windows at the woods and I see Grandad walking down the path away from the house. He looks healthy and strong, wearing a colourful fleece. I turn around and say, I think I just saw Grandad. They look at me and I realize he’s dead. I tell them That was so weird, I really thought I saw him, I didn’t even realize. I’m worried they’ll be upset but they’re not, they look sympathetic and understanding.

I go to the table and Grandad is there too, at the head, he smiles at me. We’re sitting across from each other at a wooden table in a dark and cozy room. Grandad is across from me and I bring him a small plate of fruit with an egg. The shell of the egg is crushed in the bowl with the fruit. I gave him a really big hug because I know he is dead. Wake up crying.

At the side of the house away from everyone is a small ledge. I walk over and see a small deep purple and silver creature, made of flesh and metal, wearing silver rings on its neck. It is sitting beside a small nest of dried lavender, within the lavender is a small charm. I realize one of the rings has become stuck on its neck and will either stop the creature from growing or kill it. I remove the larger ring and try to figure out how to help the creature. I hold him in my palm, trying to remember if I made him or not. I am crying because I am worried for him. I bring him to Dad to see if he can help me take off the small ring. Dad suggests we call someone to help us. In the meantime I show him to my friends. It’s grown dark in the kitchen and so I hold him up beside a candle and show him in the flickering light. He moves in my palm. I realize he has six legs and feel more convinced I made him myself. I set him back down on the lavender nest while I wait for Dad. At this point the creature looks and feels like beeswax. In the meantime, while I’m touching the rings, the creature’s head comes off and I can just remove the silver ring. When Dad returns I show him. He is happy but also expresses disappointment that I wasn’t able to follow through with the process of getting it professional attention. I put him back together but I think he is dead.

Our Anthropod frequently Dreams about the Deaths of her loved one
