The storm exposed deep fragmentation in how disaster recovery services and social service nonprofits delivered careâhighlighting the urgent need for coordination among disaster recovery organizations. The storm exposed deep fragmentation in how disaster recovery services and social service nonprofits delivered careâhighlighting the urgent need for coordination among disaster recovery organizations. We saw too many neighbors falling through the cracks, and too many social service nonprofits working in isolation, without shared tools or support from coordinating bodies such as the Office of Emergency Management or United Way.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo we got to work.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe began by listening: to service providers, case managers, and community members. Then we started building. We developed tools and platforms that made it easier to collaborate across agencies, geographies, and systems. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd then we kept growing: through COVID, through recovery, and into a broader network that now stretches beyond Houston.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eToday, we partner with local nonprofits, disaster recovery organizations, and public safety departments to streamline referrals, responsibly share data, and remove access barriers across the system for the people we serve.
