I have parallel research programs in quantum computer characterization and numerical linear algebra. My PhD was in convex optimization. I still participate in that field by helping to maintain CVXPY.</p> <p>Before Sandia I was a postdoc at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab with <a href="https://www.stat.berkeley.edu/~mmahoney/" rel="external nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Michael Mahoney</a> and <a href="https://people.eecs.berkeley.edu/~demmel/" rel="external nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Jim Demmel</a>. I did my PhD at Caltech with <a href="http://users.cms.caltech.edu/~venkatc/" rel="external nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Venkat Chandrasekaran</a> and <a href="https://adamwierman.com/" rel="external nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Adam Wierman</a>, and my undergrad in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UC Berkeley.</p> <p>I’m queer — gender nonconforming and bi. My preferred pronouns in everyday life are he/him. If you catch me at conferences there’s a good chance I’ll be dressed fem or wearing makeup.
