If successful, the BBC would have the option to create a second series.
7 8
The process has been launched after the decision by Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf to withdraw from the plan to produce a Christmas special this year and to allow a completely new production team to take over the direction of the show.
9 10
Under the process, the BBC would retain all rights to the series, including broadcast rights. The Corporation wants the series to continue to be based outside of London and ideally in Wales, where the series has been made since the return in 2005.
11 12
The successful applicant will have a plan to develop writers and actors to work on the new series. The budget will be confirmed if the first part of the application process is successful.
13 14
Interested parties must first submit an eligibility application to make sure they meet the basic requirements of the process. If this application is accepted, a 3-page editorial outline of a new series will be required. Applicants will then be invited to an interview process where proposals will be scored against published criteria.
15 16
As well as developing ideas for the story of the doctor, plans will need to include ideas for a new companion with a full backstory to engage viewers. Episodes must deliver scares, jeopardy, and tension and celebrate courage, intelligence, and compassion.
17 18
Iconic foes can be used, but original ideas are encouraged. The show must be relevant and surprising as well as cinematic and and destinctive.
19 20
The process closes at 1400 on 2nd October 2026. The BBC hopes to award a contract in March 2027, and the series will appear on screens at the end of 2028.
21 22

23 24

Doctor Who Magazine: Issue 634

25 26
Doctor Who Magazine Issue 634 is out today.
27 28
Inside this issue:
29 30
31
32
An in-depth interview with ANNEKE WILLS who, 60 years ago, was cast as companion POLLY opposite the First and Second Doctors. For the showâs tenth and twentieth anniversaries, in 1973 and1983, the iconic listings magazine Radio Times put out special celebratory editions.
84 85
Those two classic magazines have now been restored and are due to be republished as collectorâs edition hardback books, released this November by Big Finish Productions.
86 87
The magazines are packed with features, including interviews with Doctor Who actors and creatives, as well as original fiction by Daleks creator Terry Nation and series script editor Eric Saward.
88 89
Big Finish senior producer John Ainsworth said:
90 91
The 10th anniversary and 20th anniversary Radio Times specials were unique publications, marking Doctor Who's first two significant anniversaries. Both offered insights into the series and its history, and became treasured, well-thumbed reference works by all who bought them.
92
93The original publications are now rare to find, and â due to their magazine format â even rarer to find in good condition. So, itâs particularly exciting that Big Finish now has the opportunity to publish, for the first time, exact replicas of both these specials, in hardback volumes.
94
95Painstaking work has been carried out to restore photographs, and to make these specials accurate in every detail, replicating the original publications. These two books will become essential works in any Doctor Who library.
96 97
The Radio Times Doctor Who 10th and 20th Anniversary Specials are now available to pre-order for £25 each, or £45 for a multi-buy bundle of the two books.
98 99

100 101

Doctor Who Magazine Issue 633

102
Issue 633 of Doctor Who Magazine features the Tenth Doctor
103 104
Inside this issue:
105 106
107
108
Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor DAVID TENNANT discusses his extraordinary career and the new series of audio adventures in which he stars alongside Rani from The Sarah Jane Adventures played by ANJLI MOHINDRA.
109
110
111
We join TOM BAKER as he meets fans in Rye.
112
113
114
