I'm so glad you're here!
51 52
I make experimental games, interactive art, and software tools. I thrive at the intersection of HCI 53 and game design; most of my work uses nontraditional interfaces to spark intellectual curiosity about 54 the wider world. By day, I work as a developer advocate at Microsoft.
55 56
I'm currently based in Toronto. Previously, I was based in Berlin, where I was co-founder of a 57 funded games hardware startup and 58 did contract work on projects such as When In Rome, a 59 tabletop game for smart speakers that was nominated for the <a 60 href="https://www.toyawards.org/toyaward/custom/GameToy.aspx">2019 Toy Fair Game of the Year 61 award.
62 63
I've been fortunate enough to spend time in creative learning and research spaces such 64 as the Recurse Center and the <a 65 href="http://www.media.mit.edu">MIT 66 Media Lab, where my research within the <a 67 href="http://www.media.mit.edu/research/groups/playful-systems">Playful 68 Systems research group focused on storytelling at the intersection of experiential theatre, 69 interactive fiction, and audio-based augmented reality.
70 71
I've also worked on great products and with great teams such as <a 72 href="https://apps.facebook.com/wordswithfriends">Words 73 With Friends, Timehop, <a 74 href="https://etsy.com">Etsy, 75 and Pivotal 76 Labs.
77 78
As an event organizer, I help run Roguelike Celebration, a game design 79 conference about games and procedural generation, !!con (Bang Bang Con), a conference about the joy and excitement of computing, and <a 80 href="http://alt.ctrl.party">alt.ctrl.PARTY, 81 an annual celebration of physical hardware games during the Game Developers Conference.
82
83 84
85
A few things I've made
86 This is a small selection of my projects.
