Nonetheless, a major barrier for doctors to adopt telemedicine is the inability to examine their patients, such as to listen to the patient's lung and heart using a stethoscope. The lack of these data poses a risk to their medical diagnosis and treatment plan. This inspired my team to use AI technology to turn a patient's mobile phone into a 'virtual stethoscope'. This is the birth of the ausculto® technology which is now in our Vitogram® mobile app. A core feature of ausculto® is that it enables a user to capture their own heart sound without the need of a specialised medical device. With the wide availability of modern smartphones, anyone can digitalise their heart and lung sound anytime and anywhere! This technology makes tele-auscultation possible, and makes digitalisation of ones' own health data readily available.
