My name is Niall 46 Douglas, I am thirty four years old and I currently live in Cork in Ireland, 47 though will be emigrating this Autumn to work in the Native SDK division 48 for Research In Motion 49 in Waterloo, Ontario in Canada. 50 Since I was fifteen, I have lived in Germany, United Kingdom, Holland, Canada 51 and most recently in Spain where I worked for two years on 52 EuroFighters. 53 Rather interestingly, my bloodlines (genealogy) can be found 54 55 here in "The Royal And Noble Families of Britain" though I am very, very 56 distant from anyone important. You can also find my family on Wikipedia 57 here.
58
I am a software engineer by trade, having graduated from 59 Hull University in 60 the UK in 2000 with a degree in Software Engineering having dropped out 61 of Trinity College Dublin in 1997. Needless to say, quite a lot of my 62 interest falls in that area and I am a computer programmer of some 63 capability - you can see that from the programming areas in this site on 64 the left. Despite this, I recognise that the long-term trend of 65 outsourcing to the East does not look good for computer programmers and 66 hence in 2008 I graduated from 67 St. Andrews 68 University
68, Scotland having read a Joint Honours in Economics & 69 Management (two professions more secure in the West). In 2009 I 70 graduated from University College Cork 71 with a Masters in Business Information Systems 72 which united Computers, Economics & Management under one roof and 73 for which my team's group project won an Enterprise Ireland award, and I 74 followed that up with a distance PGCert in Educational and Social 75 Research with the 76 77 University of London from which I should graduate this summer. If 78 you want to see my curriculum vitae in detail, 79 it's on this website.
80
I originally started my "online virtual diary" long before the term 81 "blog" came into being - over fourteen years ago now I was doing something 82 which is considered commonplace today, but at that time was considered 83 eccentric. Like a blog, I write about various topics but unlike a blog, 84 most of it isn't particularly interesting to anyone other than me - 85 essentially it's an outlet for whatever I feel like writing about myself 86 or what I'm thinking. What that may be, varies considerably. It can 87 range from heavyweight topics such as philosophy, geopolitics, 88 psychology, quantum mechanics and politics to what I had for breakfast. 89 There is a good percentage though exclusively about women troubles, 90 mainly because I used to have no idea how to form a stable secure and lasting 91 relationship and every time I got involved with a woman, it went 92 horribly horribly wrong and I sank into year long depressions - well at 93 least until I met Megan, so far at least. Yes, this 94 is not always a fruity and happy diary! However, it occasionally 95 contains something useful to others - and I have started to put my accumulated life wisdom together into books 96 starting with the 97 Freeing Growth 98 series.
99
My diary, throughout the last fourteen years, has swung from bad times to 100 good, sad times to happy, intellectual times to well, pretty humdrum & 101 boring ones. Like most people a year or two after graduation as they 102 approach having children, life 103 becomes routine & boring and so it has been recently and hence the 104 sparsity of posts during the past two years especially. Mostly though, I look at the diary as the method most of the people I 105 have met around the world throughout the years use to check up on how I 106 am, what I'm up to and so send me a reproachful email when I'm being excessive 107 . 108 But whether I know you or not, everyone's welcome to read!
109 110
111 112
113
114
115

Line numbers count LF bytes from the start of the resource, as the search results do. Vendor segments are library code the classifier recognised; they are stored but not indexed. Bytes are shown as Latin1 characters, one per byte.
