39
Christmas Song Lyrics

40
41
Every body stops
42
and stares at me
43
These two teeth are
44
gone as you can see
45
I don't know just who
46
to blame for this catastrophe!
47
But my one wish on Christmas Eve
48
is as plain as it can be!

49
50
All I want for Christmas
51
is my two front teeth,
52
my two front teeth,
53
see my two front teeth!

54
55
Gee, if I could only
56
have my two front teeth,
57
then I could wish you
58
"Merry Christmas."
59
It seems so long since I could say,
60
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
61
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
62
if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)

63
64
All I want for Christmas
65
is my two front teeth,
66
my two front teeth,
67
see my two front teeth.

68
69
Gee, if I could only
70
have my two front teeth,
71
then I could wish you
72
"Merry Christmas!"

74
Historical Details About this Christmas Song

75
All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth brings a playful, toothy twist to the holiday season. This whimsical tune was written in 1944 by Donald Yetter Gardner, a music teacher from New York. According to Gardner, the inspiration struck when he asked his second-grade students what they wanted for Christmas - and nearly all of them had missing front teeth, lisping their answers with sweet, childlike charm.

76
77
Tickled by the moment, Gardner penned the song in just 30 minutes. It was first recorded by Spike Jones and His City Slickers in 1947, and their version quickly became a holiday hit, with its playful whistles and comedic flair. The song’s success soared in the postwar years, landing it on radio playlists and into the hearts of families everywhere.

78
79
While not a traditional carol in the classical sense, this lighthearted tune has become a staple of humorous holiday music, often sung by children and covered by countless artists, from Nat King Cole to The Chipmunks. Its simple melody and relatable theme of childhood wishes make it a perennial favorite.

80
81
Even decades later, All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth captures the sweet chaos of childhood during the holidays. It's a cheerful reminder that sometimes, the most endearing Christmas wishes are the smallest and silliest ones of all.
