The ratings represent the performance of the school on standardized tests and student progress, from Excellent to Unsatisfactory. Schools are categorized as elementary, middle, and high; where a school is in more than one category, a separate rating and map marker is provided for each applicable category. The marker icon is based on the latest rating for the school. Info windows you see when clicking on each marker provide the last 3 ratings reported. For 2007, the approximate distribution of school ratings is:
77
78
Excellent: 12%
79
High: 31%
80
Average: 36%
81
Low: 20%
82
Unsatisfactory: 1%
83
84
Geographic Data
85
Locations of most schools are from latitude and longitude information ("geocodes") from the National Center for Education Statistics Common Core of Data for public schools. Other school addresses were geocoded using Yahoo Maps Geocoding API. Accuracy of locations varies. Where multiple schools have the same address (or in the case of a multi-category school), some of the marker locations are adjusted slightly to reduce overlapping. You may need to zoom the map in to see markers that could be hidden behind others. Proximity of a residential address does not indicate inclusion in a school's attendance area; contact the local school district for attendance eligibility information.
86
Legal
87
The information displayed on this site and software incorporated in this site are provided for your use with no warranty of any kind. Line numbers count LF bytes from the start of the resource, as the search results do. Vendor segments are library code the classifier recognised; they are stored but not indexed. Bytes are shown as Latin1 characters, one per byte.
