- What counts as a third-party host?
- A host outside the site's own registrable domain that the stored source names: the src of a script or iframe tag, the href of a stylesheet link, or an absolute URL inside one of the site's own scripts (a fetch, a beacon, an image). A subdomain of the site itself is not third-party.
- What is the list useful for?
- Finding every customer of a vendor (the sites loading its widget), the reach of a CDN or font host, the sites that still load a script from a host that was retired or compromised, and the dependencies a site would break without.
- Why is a host I expect missing from a site?
- The crawler stores the served HTML and the first-party scripts; a host that only a tag manager or a third-party script adds at run time is not in the stored bytes, so it is not listed. Rendered pages, where the crawler ran the page in a browser, include what the render loaded.
