- What is a tracking ID reverse lookup?
- Every analytics tag, tag manager container, advertising pixel and site-verification meta tag carries a public identifier in the page source. Sites run by the same owner or agency often share one. The lookup lists every site in the index whose stored source contains a given id, so a property id or container id becomes a list of the sites it is used on.
- Where do the identifiers come from?
- From the stored source itself. PageSourceSearch keeps the exact bytes of the pages and first-party scripts it crawls and reads the ids out of the loader snippets and meta tags: the G-, UA-, GTM-, AW- and DC- ids of Google tags, the Meta pixel id, AdSense publisher ids, Hotjar, Clarity, HubSpot, Intercom, Segment, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X and Snap tags, Matomo, Plausible, Mixpanel, Crisp, tawk.to and Sentry, and the site-verification tokens of Google, Bing, Yandex, Facebook, Pinterest and Ahrefs.
- Is the list of sites complete?
- It covers the sites the crawler has stored. A site whose tag is injected by a tag manager at run time and not present in the served HTML or in a first-party script is not found by the id of that tag, only by the container's.
